Pool and Snooker regulations for 2023-24 | Published 5 February 2024

POS i The BUCS Pool and Snooker Championships shall be conducted in accordance with the following BUCS sport specific regulations, the BUCS general regulations, the regulations of the Universities Pool Council (UPC), and: in the case of the Eight-ball Championships the International Rules of the World Eight-ball Pool Federation (WEPF); in the case of the Nine-ball Championships the playing rules of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA); in the case of the Snooker Championships the playing rules of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA). Further event specific requirements, rules, and regulations will be contained within the entry and pre-event information for each Championship.

POS ii In the event that these regulations contradict the BUCS general regulations, these BUCS sport specific regulations will supersede, unless specifically stated otherwise.

POS iii In the event that these regulations contradict the regulations of the Universities Pool Council (UPC), the International Rules of the World Eight-ball Pool Federation (WEPF), the playing rules of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), or the playing rules of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), these BUCS sport specific regulations will supersede, unless specifically stated otherwise.


POS 1 Championships The Universities Pool Council (UPC), on behalf of BUCS, will host annually the following Championships:

POS 1.1 Eight-ball Championships The programme shall include the events listed in Appendix 1 (‘BUCS Competition Offer and Associated BUCS Points’), subject to entry numbers. All competition specific event information will be available in the event entry information and pre-event information.

POS 1.2 Nine-ball Championships The programme shall include the events listed in Appendix 1 (‘BUCS Competition Offer and Associated BUCS Points’), subject to entry numbers. All competition specific event information will be available in the event entry information and pre-event information.

POS 1.3 Snooker Championships The programme shall include the events listed in Appendix 1 (‘BUCS Competition Offer and Associated BUCS Points’), subject to entry numbers. All competition specific event information will be available in the event entry information and pre-event information.

POS 2 Disputes at events In line with REG 7.7, should a dispute occur at an event, the event appeal panel for Pool & Snooker shall comprise of the Tournament Director and/or a BUCS staff member.
