The World University Championships give students the chance to step onto the world stage in a single sport event.

Sanctioned by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), GB Students compete in FISU World University Championships held bi-annually (even year) in the subsequent years to the FISU World University Games (odd year).

GB Students is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland representative team for higher education, one of the leading nations for international university sport.

The success of GB Students is driven by the collaboration between BUCS, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), member institutions and our countries most exceptionally talented student athletes.

GB Students has a rich history of athletes, coaches, delegation staff and practitioners who progress to represent Team GB and the home nations.

  • Powerlifting - Tartu (EST) 23-27 July 2024
  • Orienteering - Bansko (BUL) 1-5 August 2024
  • Canoe Sprint - Montemor-o-Velho (POR) 21-24 August 2024
  • Squash - Johannesburg (RSA) 2-8 September 2024
  • Beach Sports - Rio de Janiero (BRA) 2-8 September 2024
  • Sport Climbing - Koper (SVN) 9-12 September 2024
  • Shooting Sport - New Delhi (IND) 9-13 November 2024

About the World University Championships

Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the FISU World University Championships are a series of competitions in a variety of different sports.
