The World University Championships give students the chance to step onto the world stage in a single sport event.

BUCS are working with FISU and the National Governing Bodies in preparation for the World University Championships (WUCs) programme in 2022, following the cancellation of almost all WUCs events in 2020. The following events are currently scheduled for 2022*;

  • Sport Climbing, Innsbruck (AUT), 14-17 June
  • Sailing, Portoroz (SLO), 15-19 June
  • Beach Volleyball, Lake Placid (USA), 22-26 June
  • Golf, Torino (ITA), 29 June-2 July
  • Weightlifting, Budapest (HUN), 4-8 July
  • Futsal, Shanghai (CHN), 18-24 July
  • Rowing, London Ontario (CAN), 11-13 August
  • Orienteering, Bienne (SUI), 17-21 August
  • Canoe, Bydgoszcz (POL), 9-11 September
  • Modern Pentathlon, Buenos Aires (ARG), 20-25 September
  • Shooting, New Taipei City (TAI), 28 September-2 October
  • Triathlon, Maceio (BRA), Dates TBC
  • Cross Country, TBC
  • Cycling, Stellenbosch (SA), Dates TBC

* these may be subject to change following the postponement of the World University Games to Summer 2022

About the World University Championships

Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the World University Championships are a series of competitions in a variety of different sports.

These events are conducted in the off-year of the FISU World University Summer Games.
