We are pleased to share the first Tennis Impact Report, highlighting some of the key achievements of the programme from the 2024-25 season.

Through close collaboration between BUCS and the LTA, we’ve continued to develop university tennis both domestically and internationally. Beyond competition, we’ve expanded opportunities for students through workforce development, ranging from officiating courses to an increase in the number of volunteering opportunities at BUCS tennis events.

This report aims to highlight some of the standout statistics from the season, celebrate some of the major successes of the programme and set out our priorities for the 2025-26 season.

Sophie Kitson, BUCS Tennis Programme Coordinator, commented: "It’s been a privilege to lead the BUCS tennis programme for nearly two years. Reflecting on my second season, I’m proud of the progress we’ve made - strengthening the student workforce and delivering a successful league, knockout, and events programme. This report highlights the impact and reach of university tennis across the UK, showcasing the opportunities and exceptional sporting experiences we continue to provide for students nationwide."

Neal Kington, BUCS Head of Competitions, added: "This report highlights the power of talent, coaching, and collaboration. Eliz’s season shows the elite potential in our student community, while Rahul and Isobella’s progress reflects the strength of our workforce pathways. Thanks to Sophie Kitson, Alistair Higham, and the LTA team for their support. These achievements align with our BUCS Strategy and values. Looking ahead, our focus on delivering the MOS, launching the Online League Planner, and expanding workforce development will continue to drive growth in university tennis."

Finally, Alistair Higham, LTA Universities Manager, commented: "It’s great to see the support BUCS give to the promotion and development of tennis in universities, especially in competition and workforce development. BUCS runs a unique nationwide league structure with weekly team fixtures every Wednesday from October to April which is highly valued in British tennis. And importantly, there are now increasing opportunities for players who don’t compete in the BUCS teams, an area which will be the focus for the LTA and BUCS moving forwards."

We look forward to continuing our work with the LTA to grow and develop both competitive and workforce development opportunities within the university sector.
