Introduction
The Event Review is the BUCS Executive’s approach to assessing the quality of the BUCS Competitions Programme, established in conjunction with the Sport Review Implementation Group (SRIG).
The continuous assessment will contribute to the delivery of elements of the BUCS
strategic objectives to 2030. The elements of the strategy which the assessment will
contribute to are:
- Ensure the capability of the BUCS Competitions Programme to meet the sporting needs of the next generation.
- Provide experiences of an exceptional quality to BUCS participants.
- Ensure that the BUCS programme meets the needs of the diverse range of students in the UK.
Why is this process necessary?
To enable us to achieve our strategic objectives, we are aware of the need to review and develop our events programme. The delivery of the BUCS Competitions Programme to the highest standard has become increasingly challenging due to expansion of the event programme over recent years.
Looking forward we want to enable consistency and quality of standards throughout the planning and delivery of the whole programme. To understand both elements of good practice and to help us identify areas for growth, improvement and development, we are committed to undertaking a cyclical review that will help shape and guide this future direction.
Elements including financial sustainability, industry support, venue opportunity and capacity and student trends will all be considered amongst many other factors.
