National League

At the top of the men’s and women’s squash league and knockout programme sits the Premier (National) leagues, providing a high level of team competition for 8 men’s and women’s teams.

The Men’s and Women’s Squash National Leagues is the highest level of university team squash in the UK, with the best 4 teams in the north and the south coming together to find our champion.

The league is played over two stages both in central venue format, the first of which is localised with the 4 teams in the north and south playing each other to produce a 1-4 ranking. Following Stage 1 the 1st ranked teams progress to the Stage 2 Upper draw and the 4th ranked teams progress to the Stage 2 Lower draw. The two teams finishing 2nd will host the opposite 3rd place team, with the winner of these fixtures progressing to Stage 2 Upper and loser Stage 2 lower.

The Stage 2 meet happens in one location with all fixtures at the same venue. The teams in each half of the draw play a round robin and the top ranked team at the end of this is crowned champions! Each fixture takes place with 5 rubbers, with each game being worth 1 league point and the team to win 3 of the rubbers taking away 5 league points.
