Edinburgh dominate the list with players past and present receiving 12 call-ups across the Scotland squad. Amongst that number are two current players, Winger Hannah Walker and Outside Back Hannah Ramsay.
It comes as no surprise that the eight Welsh call-ups are largely made up of Archers. Cardiff Met’s eight players include, Maisie Davies, Gwen Crabb, Lleucu George, Carys Phillips, Mollie Reardon, Jasmin Joyce and Catherine Richards. They will be hoping to help steer Wales to an impressive World Cup campaign under legendary MBSR coach Sean Lynn.
Whereas tournament favourites, the Red Roses, are made up of five different institutions; Hartpury, Loughborough, Cardiff Met, Durham and Northumbria.
A few of the star names include 2021 World Rugby Women’s 15s Player of the Year Zoe Aldcroft, Hartpury and Gloucester-Hartpury’s ever elusive Emma Sing, and 2024 World Rugby Women’s 15s Player of the Year Ellie Kildunne.
BUCS CEO, Will Roberts, said: “The Women's Rugby World Cup is an exciting prospect for the whole country with all home nations entering the tournament with high hopes.
"For BUCS and our member institutions this global event also provides an amazing opportunity to celebrate the performances of a 'hall of fame' of Women's BUCS Super Rugby athletes past and present.
"We wish all the players the very best of luck at the World Cup and will be following their performances closely, ahead of the start of the new season for Women's BUCS Super Rugby on 1 October with Cardiff Met vs Cardiff."
