UNIversal Gym Membership Scheme 2018-19

Starting on the 1st September 2018, the UNIversal Gym Membership Scheme will continue for 2018-19 after a successful pilot year in 2017-18 saw 55 universities join the scheme across the UK.

Over 50 universities involved in the pilot year completed an online survey to determine the impact the UNIversal Gym membership had at their institution and inputted how they believed the scheme could develop over the next year.

Key feedback from universities highlighted the following:

- 98% identified one of the main reasons they joined the scheme was to improve student experience

- 83% reported a ‘small positive impact’ on the perceived student experience

- 22% of universities have seen an increase in annual memberships sold, with one showing a 175% increase.

- 19% of universities identified a shift from monthly or semester membership to annual membership.

- The most unique visits a university gym received from another university was 35

- 95% identified they would be interested in continuing with the scheme for 2018-19

- 61% wanted the offer to remain the same for 2018-19. I.e. only available to members that have annual memberships.
