Events & BUCS Points Available

Points will be awarded to the top 4 individuals in the Men’s and Women’s Advanced competitions, and for the Men’s and Women’s Overall team the top 8 institutions will earn BUCS points. Individuals will automatically be entered into the overall team competitions, provided there are enough eligible individuals from that institution to comprise a team.

Please note the following team compositions:

The points shall be a combination of the top three individual racing positions points from each university and their top team racing positions. The points from that team are multiplied by a correction factor to equalise the individual and team contribution to the overall standings. The correction factor shall use the formula –

Correction Factor =

Number of individual competitors x number of individual races

DIVIDED BY

Number of teams x Number of team races

The total points for each university will be the team contribution multiplied by the correction factor added to the individual contribution.  The university with the lowest points will win the overall university trophy.

For exact breakdowns of the BUCS points awarded for this event, please see Appendix 1.

Equipment

It is generally expected that clubs have their own equipment for this event, however the SWA are able to offer very limited amount of kit through, which is usually used to complement the kit that institutions bring, or for any competitors who are the only representative for their institution. For the advanced division this kit consists of Tushingham Express sails up to 7.5m, RRD FireRace 112L boards, and all the other equipment needed to complete the setup.

For more information on equipment hire, please contact the SWA events rep who can offer further information.

Further Information

The SWA is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote, coordinate and advance student windsurfing in the UK. We do this through our core and wave event series of student-run windsurfing events nationwide, providing affordable tuition and access to the sport while fostering a strong community. We are hosting this event as the grand finale to end the season where you can compete for BUCS points and win great prizes!

You can also head to our website, where you can purchase an optional ticket that will give you accommodation in Bristol for the weekend and makes sure you can attend our social events over the weekend. This includes breakfast both days and dinner on Saturday night!

If you have any questions about the event, the SWA or the event series, please don’t hesitate to contact us:
