Players will be seeded into graded events, (including plate for R1 loss) with the following categories.

Men's and Women's A Grade will operate a monrad draw.

Women's B&C Grades will operate as a knockout draw with plate draws.

  • Men's B Draw (next 32 players)
  • Men's C Draw (next 32 players)
  • Men's D Draw (next 32 players)
  • Men's E Draw (next 32 players)
  • Men's F Draw (next 32 players)

  • Men's H Draw (next 32 players)
  • Women's A (Championship) Top 16 ranked players

Entry Allowance

Institutions can request two guaranteed entries and an unlimited number of non-guaranteed entries. The event, (especially A Grade) is often over capacity and so numbers of competitors may need to be restricted. The draw will determine this based upon filling each grade with the appropriate level of competitors.

Entry Conditions and Withdrawals

Player allocations to a Grade and seeding are allocated based upon the information submitted by each player at the time of entry and also your rating on Squash Levels at the time of doing the draw. It is therefore important to provide as much accurate information as possible on recent form and recent squash achievements. Please note that the Tournament Organisers cannot accept responsibility for designating players to the wrong draw if you have not provided the relevant information on playing standard.

After entries have closed no refunds will be given for withdrawals. This applies regardless of the reason for a withdrawal. The Draw and Reserve List – Version 1 will be published on Tuesday 30th October. Students that cannot initially fit into the competition will be placed onto the reserve list. This is the opportunity for students to check their initial grading and ensure that they are not in two competitions.

In order to limit first round BYEs each withdrawal is replaced. Initially the reserve list will be used but where no grade equivalent is available students will be pulled up from the grade below. Students will need to check the FINAL DRAW which will be uploaded onto the website on Thursday 9th December at 10am.

It is expected that many students from the reserve list will play. By entering the competition the student is confirming that they are willing and able to compete. Therefore, any students called up from the reserve list who then withdraws will still be charged the entry fee.

Fines for Withdrawals

  • Withdrawals after Version 1 of draw has been released will receive a £50 fine.
  • Withdrawals on Wednesday 8th December will receive a £75 fine.
  • No shows on the day will receive a £100 fine.
  • Withdrawals during the competition will receive a £25 fine.

Medical notes will only be accepted for new injuries. If you have an existing medical condition and choose to enter the competition you will still face a fine if you withdraw.

Events Withdrawal Policy

Please note that for the 2021-22 season the Event Withdrawal Policy has been updated and can be found in full here.
