Entry Information

Update

Due to critical, unforeseen repair works being undertaken at Snozone Milton Keynes, BUCS made the regrettable decision to postpone the Snowsports: Indoor Championships to a later date. The new date for this event has now been confirmed as 2nd and 3rd February 2024, at Snozone Milton Keynes. Due to the rearranged date, a completely new entry process will be undertaken. This is a result of the fact that some students who are already entered will now be unable to make the rearranged date, and others who were unable to make the original date will now be able to enter. This means ALL participants will need to re-enter the event, and anyone who was not entered previously needs to enter. This also applies to all duals teams – they will need to be re-entered and ranked accordingly. If you have any questions about the entry process, please email Harry Spinks

STAGED ENTRY

Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 Entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

Entry Allowance

Institutions can request up to 50 non-guaranteed entries in both the male and female events. Institution administrators must rank competitors in order of preference when submitting entries, e.g 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. If the event reaches capacity, BUCS will restrict entries, and this will be done equally across institutions.

This means when submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Men’s competition and Women’s competition, competitors should be ranked in order of preference before being submitted.

Please also ensure that Duals entries are ranked to reflect a complete team, i.e 1, 1, 1, 1 to show the competitors who make up one team, 2, 2, 2, 2 for another, and so on. All competitors who are part of a team must enter the relevant team event (ski or snowboard duals), so that they can be ranked as part of that team. A ski duals team must contain at least one member of the opposite gender, whereas snowboard duals teams can consist of any combination of competitors.

Schedule

The provisional schedule is for qualifiers to take place on the Friday in all events, and Finals to take place on the Saturday in all events. Please note this is subject to change and will be confirmed closer to the event.

Withdrawals

Competitor withdrawals must be made by a competitor's institutional administrator emailing Harry Spinks, the BUCS Event Coordinator.

Withdrawals before the entry deadline (18 January 2024 at 23:59 [stage one]) will not be charged.

Withdrawals after the entry deadline (18 January 2024 at 23:59 [stage one]) and before 23:59 on the 25 January 2024 will still be charged the entry fee.

Competitors who do not withdraw before 23:59 on the 25 January 2024 and do not attend the competition will be classed as a late withdrawal/no show and therefore will be charged the entry fee. They will also be fined £50 which will be charged after the event, to the competitor’s athletic union.

Should BUCS have to open stage two entries then new deadlines for withdrawals will be published. Reserves will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition.

Please see our Withdrawal Policy for more details.

Event Changes

Due to the complications in the 2022/23 season, with a venue closing, and events not taking place in the named regions (e.g Dome Series North taking place in Milton Keynes), the decision has been made to change the Dome Series to a standalone two-day event. This event will deliver the same categories previously offered in the Dome Series, but across two days at one venue, rather than having Regionalised Qualifiers and then a separate Finals Day. The event has been renamed as the Indoor Championships to reflect this.

There will no longer be separate Regional Qualifier events and then a Finals event. Instead, the same format of competition will be followed over a two-day event, but all participants will compete against each other (as opposed to in their regions) to attempt to qualify for the Finals. The proposed plan would be to have a day of Qualifiers on Friday 2nd, and then a day of Finals on Saturday 3rd, but please note this is subject to change. The event will still offer exactly the same disciplines as the Dome Series event did.

The idea is that this will save money for institutions, as there is no longer the need to travel to two separate events, even for students who qualify for the Finals. By moving this to a weekend students will also need to miss less days of study to participate.

If you have any questions regarding the change to this event, please feel free to contact Harry Spinks.
