STAGE 2 ENTRY COSTS 

£300 per team 

Please note, priority will remain with stage one entries if entry capacity is reached.

Entry Allowance

Institutions are only allowed to enter one team into each competition. Players are not allowed to play in both the Championship and the Trophy competitions. The Championship is for first teams only. 

Each team can have a maximum of 13 players in a squad and a minimum of 9 players. 

Women’s Championship 

  • This tournament is open to first teams only from the BUCS Premier (National) and Premier (North/South) leagues. If this competition reaches capacity, the highest ranked teams from finishing positions in the 2023-24 season will be selected. 

Men’s Championship 

  • This tournament is open to first teams only from the BUCS Super Rugby and Premier (North/South) 1 leagues. If this competition reaches capacity, the highest ranked teams from finishing positions in the 2023-24 season will be selected. 

Women’s Trophy 

  • This tournament is open to all teams from Tier 1 and below leagues as well as second teams from BUCS Premier (North/South). If this competition reaches capacity, priority will be given to the highest ranked first teams from Tier 1 and below followed by the highest ranked second teams. 

Men’s Trophy 

  • This tournament is open to all teams from Premier (North/South) 2 and below leagues as well as second teams from BUCS Premier (North/South) 1. If this competition reaches capacity, priority will be given to the highest ranked first teams from Premier (North/South) 2 and below followed by the highest ranked second teams. 

Please note, priority will remain with stage one entries if entry capacity is reached in a stage 2 entry window. If oversubscribied after a stage 2 window, the selection process above will be applied to stage 2 entries. 

Entry Process

The Institution Administrator is responsible for entering teams into relay competitions. A student is not able to join a team until their Institution Administrator has entered a team. 

To apply for this competition: 

  1. Entries will need to be submitted via the team entries section of our online entry system, BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here

  1. Please speak to your Institution Administrator as they will need to submit your entry. 

  1. A Team Captain must be selected as part of the team before entries close. 

  1. Competitors then need to apply for their respective team. (Instructions on how to do this can be found here

No entries will be accepted after the closing date under any circumstances, including entries on the day.

If a player has not joined the team by the team join deadline they will not be permitted to play.

Draw

The schedule is available here. Please note, this may change on the day if we receive any late withdrawals. 

The draw will be available on Tournify. A direct link will be available here on the day or you can download the app prior to the event day. The event is called BUCS Rugby Sevens: Championship & Trophy 2024. Here you will find the group your team is in, the points you’re on, what pitch you’re playing on and at what time.

The draw will not be published on Tournify until the day before the event.

Please note, in the case of REG 3.1.10 Tournify may not show the correct placings. In this case, progress to the knockouts will be determined using REG 3.1.10 and the knockout fixtures on Tournify will be amended accordingly if required. Any queries should be directed to the event lead on the day. 

Touch Judges

All teams must provide a Touch Judge as per Reg RUS 2.2 and bring their own flag

Withdrawals

Competitor withdrawals must be made by a competitors athletic/students union by emailing the event lead. 

Please see REG 7.9 for our withdrawal policy. 

Teams who withdraw the after the team entry deadline (16 April 2024) or who do not attend the event will be classed as a late withdrawal/no show and therefore will be charged the entry fee and fined £100. This fine is in place as withdrawing after teams have been accepted impacts the draw, involving additional administrative time and costs, and also effects the experience of the other teams due to a reduction in their number of fixtures.

Photography & Videography

Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event

BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.
