  • Points race (Open only) – 1 rider per Institution
  • Points race (Female only) – 2 riders per Institution
  • Team Pursuit (Open and Female) – 2 teams per Institution

In accordance with REG 4.3 and the BUCS Cycling sport specific regulations, the British Cycling Transgender and Non-Binary Participation Policy shall apply for these Championships. As these Championships are a British Cycling Sanctioned event, the policy for competitive activity shall apply. Detailed information regarding the development of the policy and its implementation can be found here and here respectively.

The following points summarise how this will apply to these Championships, as well as confirming a BUCS specific additional entry restriction:

  • Female category events: To compete in female category events, an individual’s birth sex must be female. Once a Trans male or Non-binary individual (whose birth sex is female) commences hormone treatment, they will not be eligible to participate in any female category events.
  • Open category events: Whatever an individual’s birth sex or gender identity may be, they can compete in Open category events, but the following restriction shall apply for individuals eligible for female category events. An individual eligible for female category events shall not be permitted to enter both the Female and Open categories of the same event. For example, they will not be permitted to enter both the Open and Female Individual pursuit, however they could enter the Female Individual Pursuit and the Open Team Pursuit.

Should the event reach capacity, BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution further. Therefore, when submitting entries on BUCS Play, for all races, riders should be sorted into your ranked order of preference before being submitted.

For Institutions entering multiple riders into a team category, the Institution Administrator should rank all riders in the team with the same number. For example, athletes competing in team number 1 In the Open Team Pursuit should all be ranked '1'. Please note: This year there is a new policy regarding reserves/substitutions for the team events – please see the ‘SUBSTITUTIONS / RESERVES AND WITHDRAWALS’ section for more information.

Entry Process

To apply for the competition all eligible competitors must follow these steps:

  1. Competitor to apply to the event on BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  2. Institution administrator approves entry (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list
