Entry Allowance

Institutions may enter two students per event regardless of standard (except for 5000m, Pole Vault and Triple Jump – Entry Standards below). However, if an event reaches capacity it may be necessary to restrict entries to 1 per institution and then best performances for remaining spaces. Any institution wishing to enter a 3rd and 4th athlete into an event must ensure that ALL athletes from their institution in that event have achieved the entry standards listed below. 3rd or 4th athletes will only be permitted if space allows; guest competitors will not be allowed.

Only 2 athletes per institution will be scoring athletes, however universities do not have to declare their scoring/non-scoring athletes. The first two athletes from an institution will automatically be classed as the scoring athletes.

For each competitor a URL link to their Power of 10 Profile must be submitted.

For International students a link to their country’s equivalent may be submitted or a PDF of results, (stating the name, date and location of competition). This must be translated into English.

For each event entered by the student their BP – Best Performance must be recorded. This BP must have been achieved within the last 3 years, i.e. between 1 January 2019 and 5 April 2022

For para-ahtletics events a student’s classification should be recorded.

The following formats must be used for BPs: Sprints (60-400) s.ms

Long distance (800m+) mm:ss.ms Field m.cm

Parallel Success

BUCS incorporate events for eligible student para-athletes.

Classification is an integral part of para athletics to ensure fair competition. All athletes participating in these events must have undergone at least a UKA National Level Classification by the competition date. UKA can advise on details on any classification events coming up soon for athletes requiring a Classification. To do this, please contact Job King.

The Parallel Success events will be eligible for team and BUCS points and medals awarded depending on the numbers of entrants into each event. Events will be mixed categories scored on the RAZA system. If there are vacant lanes in the track events and sufficient space in the field events guest para athletes may be invited to compete.

The RAZA system enables different classifications to compete against each other and RAZA calculates the best performance (BP) based on world records for each classification. In the Parallel Success events, medals will be awarded for the top three competitors in each event. Following BUCS regulation 6.1.2, BUCS points will be only available for events where an individual has beaten another individual. For example, if there is only one individual in a race, they will receive a gold medal. If there are two athletes, they will receive gold and silver medals, and the gold medal winner will also receive BUCS points.

Students wishing to enter these para-athletics events must enter via their Athletic Union/Sports Office in the same manner as all other entries for these events. There is no requirement for athletes to have previously competed in the specific event.

Please put Athletes 1 & 2 in as guaranteed entries

If you wish to enter a 3rd & 4th Athlete please put them in as non-guaranteed entries

RESERVES (SUBSTITUTES)

Reserves must be entered into the BUCS Play system alongside the entries.

If an athlete is listed in a relay or in an individual event they do not need to be put on the reserve list.

Following the closure of entries and any subsequent checking of Best Performances, athletes on the reserve list will not be allowed to be substituted into an event from which they have previously been rejected if the reason for rejection was failing to provide a Best Performance within the last 2 years, failing to provide a Power of 10 link (or equivalent results link) or not meeting the required standard where standards are necessary.
