BUCS is pleased to share an exciting international development opportunity for students and staff within the BUCS membership to attend the 2026 FISU World Forum, taking place in Östersund, Sweden, from 24-28 August.

The 2026 Forum is organised by Mid Sweden University and the Swedish University Sports Federation (SAIF), in cooperation with the International University Sports Federation (FISU), and will be hosted in Östersund - Sweden’s winter sports capital. The FISU World Forum is a flagship event within the international university sport calendar, bringing together students, university sport professionals, officials, Healthy Campus representatives and key partners from across the global university sport movement.

Please note: Attendance at the FISU World Forum is self-funded or institution-funded. BUCS does not cover any costs associated with attendance, including travel, accommodation or registration. More details below.

About the FISU World Forum

Held every two years (alternating with FISU World University Games years), the FISU World Forum combines academic discussion, practical workshops, cultural exchange and sporting activities. It serves as a global platform to explore ideas, share best practice, and promote projects that contribute to the development of university sport worldwide.

The Forum provides a marketplace for discussion and collaboration, enabling participants to engage with current and emerging challenges in university sport and student wellbeing.

2026 Main Theme

Active Body, Healthy Mind: How Impactful Sport Can Be at Universities

This overarching theme will be explored through the following sub-themes:

  1. Healthy Campus - the key for wellbeing and excellence
  2. University Sport Events - driving change through inclusivity and good governance
  3. Dual Career-Friendly Universities

Each sub-theme will be led by expert speakers and explored through daily workshops and seminars, encouraging discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to representatives from within the BUCS membership, including:

  • Students
  • University / SU Sport staff

Attendees will benefit from five inspiring days of learning, networking and cultural exchange alongside peers and professionals from across the international university sport community.

Funding and Participation

Attendance at the 2026 FISU World Forum is not funded by BUCS. Individuals or institutions must be able to self-fund or secure institutional funding to cover all associated costs: €70 per person per day for five days, plus all travel to and from the Forum.

Forum registration fee will provide participants with the following:

  • Accommodation and meals
  • Local transport from official arrival points to accommodation and Forum venues
  • Forum communications and participant information
  • First aid and medical transport
  • Full access to educational, cultural and sporting activities, including facilities, equipment and internet.
