The BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championships are part of Milk Every Moment, a campaign from BUCS and the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), which represents over 100,000 British farmers.
Rugby and farming might seem unrelated, but both rely on resilience, teamwork, and a strong community - values shared by many grassroots rugby clubs that include and are supported by farmers and people in agriculture.
The Milk Every Moment campaign aims to show students how milk can support them in reaching their sport and fitness goals. Milk is the original sports drink. It’s an affordable natural source of seven essential vitamins and minerals, and rich in high quality protein, important for the growth and maintenance of muscles.
But the campaign goes beyond nutrition. AHDB’s support has helped elevate women’s rugby, giving female athletes equal visibility and investment. Women’s BUCS Super Rugby now sits alongside the men’s top tier, with eight universities competing (from 2026-27) and a clear pathway to the international game.
As a result of the Milk Championships partnership with AHDB, the women’s competition now benefits from full match official teams, more livestreamed coverage, and a growing audience - creating a bigger platform for future talent.
AHDB sponsors both the Men’s and Women’s BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championships, which conclude with the finals day on 22 April 2026. Together, they create an inclusive, high-performance environment that attracts top student rugby players.
