BUCS Director of Delivery, Jenny Morris is excited to welcome the new sports into the programme.
“British Weight Lifting and England Handball have worked extremely hard to develop their competitive offers with Higher Education. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work in direct partnership with them, to now include their competitions in our programme of events. Both events are warmly welcomed, and I am excited to see how they continue to develop and thrive.`
Ashley Metcalfe, CEO of British Weight Lifting
“I am delighted that both Olympic Weightlifting and Para-Powerlifting have now been added to the BUCS Competition Programme. We already have several clubs within the HE/FE sector, with an increasing number of athletes competing in our current British University and College competition.
Our sports are fully inclusive with many active lifters from diverse backgrounds and we believe this association will encourage the introduction of more athletes to strengthen our sport further.”
John Pearce, National Competitions and Events Manager, England Handball
“England Handball is pleased to be part of the BUCS programme for the 2020-21 season. After several years working and developing the University game, it is fantastic to see that development come to fruition with inclusion into the BUCS Competition Programme. Since London 2012, the game has been going from strength to strength and this is further evidence of that. We look forward to working with BUCS to continue to develop the game and provide the best possible experience for Universities.”
