UJC will become the official sponsor of the opening day of BUCS Big Wednesday, which will be rebranded as “Touchdown Tuesday, powered by Union Jack Classic.”

British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Union Jack Classic (UJC), marking an exciting collaboration that will enhance the student sport experience at one of the largest UK university sport events of the year.

As part of the agreement, UJC will become the official sponsor of the opening day of BUCS Big Wednesday, which will be rebranded as “Touchdown Tuesday, powered by Union Jack Classic.” The aim is to celebrate and elevate American football within the university sports landscape, spotlighting the growth and popularity of the game across the UK.

In addition, BUCS participants will gain exclusive access to special ticket pricing to the inaugural Union Jack Classic, set to take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 19 September 2026. The highly anticipated event will feature a transatlantic showdown between two powerhouse teams from the Big 12 Conference: the Kansas Jayhawks and the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Will Roberts, BUCS CEO, said: "We are delighted to partner with UJC. ‘Touchdown Tuesday, powered by Union Jack Classic’ adds a fresh and dynamic element to BUCS Big Wednesday, while providing our participants with the opportunity to attend the first-ever Union Jack Classic at Wembley. This partnership reflects our commitment to deliver exceptional student sporting experiences and create memorable opportunities for our community."

Thomas Hensey, COO and Co-Founder of Union Jack Classic, added: "We’re incredibly proud to partner with BUCS on Touchdown Tuesday and support the continued rise of university American football in the UK. At our core, this is about investing back into the domestic game, growing the sport we all care so deeply about, and making it more accessible to more players. We see this as the start of a long-term relationship that will create more opportunities and inspire the next generation across the UK."

This collaboration represents a shared vision to grow the game of American football while engaging the next generation of fans and athletes.
