The monthly workshops will start from October and run through to March 2026, support student leaders. The workshops are a result of the multi-year collaboration with add-victor.
We have taken feedback from members and students over the last year to make these sessions even more relevant to student leaders. Key adaptations include the following:
-
Each workshop will be offered twice offering versatility to students’ busy schedule. For each session students will have the option of attending either a midday slot for those wanting to ‘learn over lunch’ or an evening slot starting at 6pm.
-
The workshops are split over a six-month period, between October and March, with sessions themed around what is considered most relevant to students during that time in the year.
-
Sessions are slightly shorter, allowing time for those who need to get to lectures or training on time and those that want to stay on to ask questions are able to also.
-
An additional workshop is being offered which purely focuses on how to sell yourself in interviews and a dedicated session on how to present leadership roles on CVs and application forms.
-
A LinkedIn Group has also been created to allow for networking and mentoring opportunities (only available to those who attend at least one workshop)
The workshop themes are highlighted below. You are now able to register for the first two workshops taking place in October and November here.

Tuesday 21 October - Unleashing the leader within you

Faye Burnhill, Rugby Club Chair at Sheffield Hallam University who attended the workshops last year, commented: "As the chair of my university club last year, I found the BUCS x add-victor sessions to be incredibly valuable. They helped me develop essential skills, such as conflict resolution, which were immensely beneficial in my role. These workshops enable participants to apply the skills learned through sports to university life and future careers."
Alex Turnbull, Head of Partnerships, Engagement & Business Intelligence, said: “The BUCS x add-victor workshops provided exceptional student leaders with an opportunity to hear why they’re so valued at their institutions, and in the wider working world. Understanding their unique skillset and articulating this to future prospective employers has never been more important, and these sessions have provided exclusive insights to develop those who engage and aid their career journey.”
Sarah Humphreys, Directorate of Sport & Active Wellness at Oxford Brookes University, commented: "I have loved being part of the BUCS & add-victor workshops to help students develop their employability skills. As a former student Club President myself, many of the skills I learnt and developed during my time at university were from the role and responsibilities I had to perform in managing my club and all its members and stakeholders. Now, as both a Director of Sport and employer of many sports graduates, I can easily see a difference between those candidates who have immersed themselves in positive club culture and who have prioritised their skill development, over those who haven't."
