Description

Role Overview The women’s lacrosse club is made up of 2 competitive BUCS teams, with the first team currently competing in BUCS Premier League, the top tier of university lacrosse. To lead, plan and implement a technical coaching programme for the Oxford Brookes University Women’s Lacrosse 1st and 2nd teams. The Head Coach will be expected to deliver at least 3x weekly training sessions, and attend matches on Wednesday afternoons (if possible). Training currently takes place Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. The 1st team receive high performance support in the form of strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy. The Head Coach will be expected to work with support staff to ensure players are engaging with support services. Key Responsibilities • Design and deliver comprehensive coaching sessions for the 1st and 2nd team squads. • Provide tactical leadership and coaching for the 1st team during fixtures. • Support individual players to reach their potential. • Collaborate with the club committee to manage a fair and transparent trials process and team selection. • Partner with student leadership to establish a high-performance environment. • Act as a mentor to volunteer and assistant coaches; support sports staff in future coaching recruitment. • Foster a team environment that is positive, ambitious, inclusive, and competitive. • Work with university staff to conduct proactive student recruitment to actively recruit prospective students. • Conduct proactive student recruitment activity, attracting lacrosse players to Oxford Brookes University. Criteria • Minimum L1 Coaching qualification • In-date Emergency First Aid certificate. • Proven track record in delivering sport-specific training and match-day leadership. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders. • Knowledge of university sport structures (e.g. BUCS) and student-led environments (desirable).
