Salary:   Full time starting salary is normally in the range £30,942 to £40,332, with potential progression once in post to £42,797.


With Hockey one of our priority sports at Birmingham, the Head of Hockey is a key appointment. Under the leadership of the Head of Performance & Coaching, they will join 5 other Head Coaches supported by the multidisciplinary team (MDT) - specialist support practitioners within a sector leading dual-career environment.

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the hockey programme, including coaching philosophy, style, development and performance of the club. They will have direct responsibility for the performance of the 1st and 2nd teams in BUCS and of our National Hockey League teams.

The role includes direct coaching our National league teams They will be responsible for appointing, managing and developing the hockey coaching staff whilst ensuring the programme grows and develops the players and teams and their performances also ensuring a high-quality student experience is maintained throughout the club, and steering a culture consistent with UBSport’s values. They will lead/oversee the MDT support for the 1st and 2nd team BUCS programme alongside 1st team coaches. In liaison with the Sport Scholarship Team the post-holder will be expected to plan the recruitment strategy for Hockey, and also oversee the monitoring and reporting of performance targets and measures relating to Hockey. It is expected the successful candidate will also have and develop strong links with GB and home nations NGB.
