Description

The University of Nottingham Men’s Rugby Union Club is one of the leading student rugby programmes in the UK, with a strong history of performance, player development, and contribution to elite university sport. Competing at the highest level of university rugby, including BUCS Super Rugby (BSR), the programme provides a high-performance environment aligned with professional standards.

Description of Work:

- Deliver and oversee the Men’s Rugby Union performance programme, including pre-season, training, trials, and competition preparation.

- Lead the development of backs players through technical and tactical coaching, 1:1 player meetings, and Individual Development Plans (IDPs).

- Plan and deliver individual and positional skill sessions to support player development and performance progression.

- Manage the relationship with Nottingham Rugby and oversee player transition and progression opportunities between university and senior rugby environments.

- Attend monthly BSR meetings to remain aligned with club, performance sport, and wider university developments and objectives.

- Contribute to weekly IDT (Interdisciplinary Team) meetings alongside performance and support staff to review athlete progress, welfare, and performance planning.

- Plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions focused on team and individual player development.

- Coach and support athletes during BUCS and other competitive fixtures.

- Create a high-performance culture to support athlete development and team success.

- Support player recruitment through university open days, talent identification, and liaison with schools and clubs.

- Work collaboratively with coaching staff, club committees, and performance support teams including strength & conditioning, physiotherapy, and other staff.

- Mentor and support volunteer and assistant coaches where appropriate.

- Organise and contribute to trials and player pathway development within the university programme.

- Maintain communication with club leadership and uphold University of Nottingham Sport policies and safeguarding standards.

- Assist in developing partnerships with local clubs, governing bodies, and alumni networks.
