STAGED ENTRY

Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 Entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

Entry Allowance

Institutions can request an unlimited number of entries. However, should the event reach capacity BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution. Where necessary, the process for this will be communicated to universities. If there is a second entry window, priority will remain with those entered in stage 1.

Individuals cannot enter both the Female and Open Categories, they must only enter one. For clarity the definitions of ‘female’ and ‘open’ please refer to the British Triathlon Transgender Policy HERE

When submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Open Race and Women’s Race, competitors should be sorted into your ranked order of preference before being submitted
 

Entry Process

To apply for this competition:

1. Competitor to complete competition application on BUCS Play

2. Institution administrator approves entry

3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.

Swim start (with changing rooms & showers):

Please note that competitors and spectators cannot park in the flint barn car park, access to the swim start at Whitlingham Adventure must be via the footpaths from the transition area or Lime Avenue car park (not the track road which is for emergency access only).

Competition Format

The BUCS Standard Distance Triathlon will comprise of a 1500m lake swim, 40km bike, 10km run.

Course Description

1,500m OWS on the Great Broad, 40km cycle and 10km run on the path (mixed terrain) which follows the perimeter of the Great Broad.

SWIM

The swim commences from Whitlingham Adventure (WA) with competitors starting from the front steps before being ushered in the water.  

BIKE

The bike route takes competitors right out of transition along Whitlingham Lane towards Trowse, before heading out through the stunning South Norfolk route shown on the map to your right.

RUN

The run route starts with you turning left out of transition on to a short section on Whitlingham Lane before you turn right into the picnic field. There is then a short section through the woods before joining the path around the stunning Whitlingham Broad for 2 laps. It is then back into the main field and into the finish line.

To withdraw from the event, please contact your Institution Administrator who should inform the event lead.

BUCS Points

Please see Appendix 1 for BUCS Points available at this event.

The team results, extracted from the individual race results, will be determined by the fastest 3 competitors per institution (their times not placings) combined, with the best team being that with the lowest combined time. Only 1 team per institution will be counted.
