Please note that competitors and spectators cannot park in the flint barn car park, access to the swim start at Whitlingham Adventure must be via the footpaths from the transition area or Lime Avenue car park (not the track road which is for emergency access only).

(Institutional Administrators are given 48 hours after the student/competitor deadline to approve entries)

STAGED ENTRY

Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 Entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.

Competition Format

COMPETITION FORMAT

The BUCS Standard Distance Triathlon will comprise of a 1500m lake swim, 40km bike, 10km run.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

1,500m OWS on the Great Broad, 40km cycle and 10km run on the path (mixed terrain) which follows the perimeter of the Great Broad.

Swim

The swim commences from Whitlingham Adventure (WA) with competitors starting from the front steps before being ushered in the water.  

Bike

The bike route takes competitors right out of transition along Whitlingham Lane towards Trowse, before heading out through the stunning South Norfolk route shown on the map to your right.

Run

The run route starts with you turning left out of transition on to a short section on Whitlingham Lane before you turn right into the picnic field. There is then a short section through the woods before joining the path around the stunning Whitlingham Broad for 2 laps. It is then back into the main field and into the finish line.

For the team results, extracted from the individual race results, the fastest 3 competitors per institution shall their times (not placings) combined, with the best team being that with the lowest combined time. Only 1 team per institution will be counted.

Entry Allowance

Institutions can request an unlimited number of entries. However should the event reach capacity BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution. Where necessary, the process for this will be communicated to universities. When submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Men’s Race and Women’s Race, competitors should be sorted into your ranked order of preference before being submitted.

Parking is available in a number of the RCP carparks along Whitlingham Lane. You can pay in advance for your parking here, a discount code for reduced parking fees will be provided soon.

 

There is plenty of car parking available at Whitlingham Country Park (see above tab for ‘Map of Areas & Access Routes’) including coach drop off at across the road in the campsite car park which includes a turning circle for large vehicles/coaches.  The linked ‘Map of Areas & Access Routes’ should give a clear view of the different venues and transition area.  Click here to see the slipway where the swimmer leave the water and head to the transition area.

 

Drinking water will be available before the swim at Whitlingham Adventure as well as at the main field/changeover area by the flint barn after the race.  Water will be available during the run, but not on the bike course. Finishers will also have access to water, we will require their own bottle or cup to fill to reduce plastic waste.
