Single Entry
This competition will NOT operate a staged entry process. As such, please ensure all entries are submitted through BUCS Play prior to the closing date listed above.
BUCS Points
As this event is a test event for the 2025-26 season, there are no BUCS Points associated with the competition.
Entry Allowance
Institutions may enter multiple teams. Priority will be given to institution’s 1st teams. Should the event be oversubscribed by 1st teams, a ballot will draw 1st teams at random until capacity is reached. The ballot will then be used to draw a reserve list which will be used in the case of drop-outs.
If the event does not reach capacity through 1st teams, 2nd teams downwards will be considered. A random ballot system will be used should 2nd team entries cause the event to be oversubscribed.Event Format
This is an 18-hole mixed team strokeplay competition, played over one day. Teams are made up a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 golfers. Team scores will be combined from the 3 best round scores for each team.
There will also be a mixed individual strokeplay leaderboard.
Specific start times for all teams will be published alongside the Event Guide.
Withdrawals
Team withdrawals must be made in writing by the athletic union or students’ union and e-mailed to Maddi Cannell.
Withdrawals after the entry closing date (Thursday 9 April 2026) will still be charged the entry fee (Reg 3.2.4).
Withdrawal of a team does not guarantee a replacement into the competition. Reserve teams will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition. Teams who do not withdraw, and do not register at the venue, will be classified as a ‘no-show’ and charged the entry fee and an additional £50 fine payable by the competitor’s athletic union or students’ union.

Reserve List
Teams who are not allocated a tee time on the start sheet will be included on the reserve list. Following the close of entries the reserve list will be arranged via random ballot order. If an accepted team withdraws from the competition their tee time will be offered to the next team on the reserve list. BUCS will contact the institution of the reserve team to offer this tee time.
If a reserve team is unable to take the tee time BUCS will contact the next institution until the tee time is taken. Reserve teams should communicate their availability with their athletic union or students’ union and remain available should withdrawals occur.
If a team on the reserve list no longer wishes to be considered for the competition; they must inform their institution and withdraw following the process detailed in the entry information.
Rules and Regulations
The BUCS Golf Championships shall be conducted in accordance with the following BUCS sport specific regulations, the BUCS general regulations, the R&A Rules of Golf and such Local Rules and Conditions of Competition as shall be approved by BUCS. Further event specific requirements, rules, and regulations will be contained within the entry and pre-event information for each Championship.
In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by card countback of the member of the team with the lowest score. This will be the last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole as needed. If there is still a tie, then the last six holes, three holes and final hole of the first nine holes will be considered in turn.
General conditions
Use of electronic equipment In all BUCS competitions throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect their play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player will be in breach of Rule 14-3 of the Rules of Golf.
All BUCS competitions throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will permit the use of manual or powered caddy cars. However, the use of buggies remains forbidden (with the exception of certified medical exemption).
A competitor may use a caddy during a round, but the caddy must not receive payment of any form for their service.
Course Information
Yardages for Male and Female tees
GOL 4.1 Course requirements All BUCS Regional Golf competitions will be held on a golf course of appropriate quality which regularly hosts amateur matches of similar standard. Males will compete from an officially measured Males’ tee (or officially measured winter tee) and Females will compete from an officially measured Females’ tee (or officially measured winter tee). Yardages will be determined by the BUCS Executive in conjunction with the 3rd party delivery partner and venue,

Photography and Videography
Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event.
BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.
