The University of Southampton has around 16,000 undergraduates and over 7,600 post graduate students, based around five campuses in the South of England.
In September 2024, the university unveiled their new Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre extension, a £24.7m project that coordinated sustainable development targets with cost and pragmatic infrastructure provision.
The extension included a state-of-the-art Technogym 200+ station Fitness Suite, a Les Mills International & Technogym oriented fitness and active studios, 3 brand new squash courts, a climbing and bouldering wall, and enhancements and upgrades to the existing facilities used by the University staff and students, members of the public and community groups.
The extension has been awarded a BREEAM rating of excellent, along with an increased quantity of PV panels to meet the University of Southampton’s net zero carbon target.
Travelling by train
Frequent trains connect London to Southampton. Trains depart from London Waterloo every 30 minutes during the day, and take approximately 75 minutes to Southampton. There are two train stations in Southampton, both convenient to the University. Coming from London, the first station is Southampton Airport Parkway, located directly opposite Southampton Airport. This station is slightly closer to the University.
There is a taxi rank outside the station, or you can use the Uni-link bus service to get to Highfield Campus from the stations.
Travelling by car
To travel to the University of Southampton by car, you can take the M3 or M27.
M3: Exit at junction 14, follow the A33 (Bassett Avenue) and take the second left into Highfield Road.
M27: Exit at junction 5, follow the A335 and then turn right onto A35 (Bassett Road).

Travelling by air
Southampton has its own international airport with connecting routes to all domestic airports.
From the airport, the University's Highfield Campus is only a short taxi ride away or you can catch the University's Uni-link service to the halls of residence. Further details about the service are available on the Uni-link website.
