Results will be available on https://bucs.cyclingresults.org.uk (type into browser) during the event, live results plus sprint and pursuit heats will be displayed on a projector in the centre of the track, as well as on this website.

Parking

Free parking will be available at the National Cycling Centre.

Registration

Registration for this event will be at the National Cycling Centre on the event days. On the Saturday, sign on will be from 08:15. On the Sunday, sign on will be from 08:30.

Entrants do not need track accreditation. A current BC Race Licence must be presented at Sign On. A single day licence can be purchased on the day. The costs of these are:

Venue Facilities & Catering

At the venue, there are water fountains which can be used to refill bottles. Catering will also be available to purchase at the café in the Velodrome.

There are changing rooms and accessible toilets at the venue.

Bikes will NOT be available for hire for racing at this event. Competitors must find other arrangements for this.

Withdrawals and Substitutions

After individuals have entered a race, they can only withdraw if it is on medical grounds with sufficient proof from doctor’s note or acceptable equivalent. Substitutions can be replaced by a reserve but this must be notified to the organiser by the Team Captain and approved (only experienced track riders).

Fines

Any riders/teams that ‘Do Not Show’ (DNS) for their race will be subject to a £100.00 fine.

In case of a new injury, evidence provided by a doctor’s note or equivalent will be accepted.

Rules and Regulations

These Championships will be run in accordance with the Technical Regulations issued by British Cycling, as outlined in the Rulebook 2018.

Information for Coaches

If an individual/team wants to go for a record in the final ride, this request must be made in writing to the Chief Commissionaire, if not the normal rules will apply and the event terminated if there is a catch.

Team support staff are NOT responsible for signalling their riders to “stay down” when competing and being overtaken. This is the responsibility of the commissaires.

SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS

MEN

A “200 metres Time Trial” shall take a flying start from the 200 metres line and shall be used to select the participants (16) and rankings for the sprint competition. The competition shall follow the table below:

INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Championship shall be run over the following distance:-

Qualifying Men 4000m
  Women 3000m
Final/Minor Final Men 4000m
  Women 3000m

Men: There shall be qualifying rides which shall take the form of a time trial, two riders to be on the track at once. The fastest two riders shall contest the final.  The third and fourth fastest riders shall contest a ride off for the bronze medal.

Women: There shall be a qualifying ride which shall take the form of a time trial, two riders on the track at once. The fastest two riders shall contest the final.  The third and fourth fastest riders shall contest a ride off for the bronze medal.

1km/500m TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Should two or more riders record the same time, they shall be placed equal.

POINTS RACE

Will be over 30km (Men) 15km (Women)  or a distance that track time will permit. Sprints shall take place every 10 laps with the first four riders over the line gaining 5, 3, 2, 1 points respectively. Double points are awarded on the final lap. Rider/s gaining a lap score 20 points. Rider/s losing a lap score -20points. Where two or more riders are equal on points, the places in the final sprint shall determine the winner.

ELIMINATION RACE

A sprint shall be run every lap. After each sprint the last rider, according to the position of the rear wheel on the finishing line, shall be eliminated. In certain cases, the commissares may decide to eliminate a rider other than the last rider in the sprint (for example if a rider passes on the blue band). The last two riders shall ride the final sprint. Men’s qualification heats will be run until there are 10 riders remaining and then the race terminated by the commissares pistol. NOTE: Elimination is made from the rear of the main bunch.

TEAM PURSUIT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Championship will be run over a distance of

Qualifying Men 3000m

Qualifying time trials shall be run with two teams (x4 per team) on the track.  The fastest 2 teams from qualifying shall proceed to the final with a ride off for bronze medal between the 3rd and 4th fastest time during qualifying.

TEAM SPRINT

The Championship shall be run over a distance of 750 m for men and 500m for women. Qualifying time trials shall be run with two teams on the track.  The fastest 2 teams from qualifying shall proceed to the final with a ride off for bronze medal between the 3rd and 4th fastest time during qualifying.

Notes for Riders

The Chief Commissaire and Organiser have the right to withdraw any rider/team from the competition for dangerous or inconsiderate riding. Foul or abusive language will also not be tolerated and will also lead to exclusion from the event.

The event shall try to run to the timetable BUT this is not guaranteed - Please take note during the event if the programme is running early and ensure you are ready. You will be called from the D for a particular event - it is your responsibility to respond and take you starting position - we cannot delay any starts - so appoint a ‘team - manager’ to help. The Organiser/Chief Commissaire has the right to cancel events if track time is shortened due to accidents or other issues.

Only one Team Personnel is allowed track side during racing. No team personnel are allowed track side during bunch events. The pits will be back straight and managed by a commissaire.

WARMING UP

The track has been hired for racing and to ensure we complete the full race programme there is very limited time for warming up on the track.

RACE NUMBERS

You will be given two numbers when you sign on for the competition. You must use these numbers for every race over the weekend. If you lose a number, you will be charged £2 per re-print.

Results and Presentations

The awards presentation will be hosted at the end of racing on Sunday 24 November 2019 at the National Cycling Centre.

Results will be published within 48 hours of the event ending.
