BUCS Points

Individual Championships (Men’s and Women’s)

Overall Team (Men’s and Women’s)

Overall Team = All athletes are eligible to count towards their University’s overall team total. The top 8 competitors in each event will score 20, 14, 10, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 points respectively.

BUCS Points available for the aforementioned categories for individual championships are:

  • 1st Place
12 Points
  • 2nd Place
8 Points
  • 3rd Place
6 Points
  • 4th Place
4 Points

Points will be available for para-athletes where applicable.

Please note that BUCS Points will not be allocated where the minimum number of competitors/teams has not been reached, or where there are not enough individual scores to extract a team score. Furthermore, an individual/team must have beaten another individual/team to score BUCS Points (i.e. if 3 individuals/teams compete in an event, only 2 will score BUCS Points). This does not apply to extracted teams. Individuals/teams are regarded as having competed if they started the event; therefore DNS will not be regarded as having competed.

Entry Allowance

The following races will have restricted entries:

  • Individual Pursuit (Men’s and Women’s) – 2 riders per Institution
  • Points race (Men only) – 1 rider per Institution
  • Points race (Women only) – 2 riders per Institution
  • Team Pursuit (Men’s and Women’s) – 2 teams per Institution
  • Team Sprint (Men’s and Women’s) – 3 teams per Institution
  • Elimination race (Men’s and Women’s) – 3 riders per Institution

For all other categories up to 20 non-guaranteed entries may be submitted. Should the event reach capacity, BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution further. Therefore, when submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Men’s competition and Women’s competition, riders should be sorted into your ranked order of preference before being submitted. The final list of entries will be available within the pre-event information document.

Para-Cycling

EVENTS WITH PROVISION FOR PARA-CYCLISTS

With the support of British Cycling, BUCS offers entries for:

Women: Sprint, 500m Time Trial and 3000m Individual Pursuit.

Men: Sprint, 1km Time Trial and 4000m Individual Pursuit.

Para-cycling Track Competition will follow IPC Regulations, and is open to those who are classified either with locomotive or learning disabilities.

HOW IT WILL WORK

Para-Cycling categories at our events will be open to all athletes with locomotive and learning disabilities. There will be separate Men’s and Women’s competitions.

All para-cyclists are given a disability classification to allow them to compete. Using a factor system, races of mixed classification athletes can be run. The original finishing times are then converted in order to compile the results lists using the UCI Comparison Table.

All BUCS eligibility rules will still apply.

WILL THERE BE BUCS POINTS?

As per Rules and Regulation, BUCS Points for individual competitions are distributed to the top four individuals. An individual must have beaten another individual to score BUCS Points (i.e. if 3 individuals/ teams compete in an event, only 2 will score BUCS Points).

WILL THERE BE BUCS MEDALS?

The top three competitors will receive a BUCS medal.

WHAT IF THERE IS ONLY ONE ENTRY?

For individual or extracted events there needs to be a minimum of 2 entrants not from the same institution to be eligible to compete and be awarded BUCS points.
