GB Students are making a splash at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 with a powerhouse swimming squad ready to dive into action! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

The wait is over — the GB Students Swimming Team heading to the FISU World University Games 2025 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany is officially here! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

With talent pouring in from universities across the UK, this group of elite student-athletes will be racing for personal bests, podium finishes, and national pride. From sprints to long distance, breaststroke to butterfly — we’ve got it covered.

With the games now only 15 days away team leader Mark Skimming said “It’s fantastic to be part of the team again, we have great staff and some great swimmers with lots of potential.”

“I have been involved as a team member twice before and truly believe the WUGS are a fantastic event. It offers an extremely high level of competition from all around the world.”

“The experience of having so much new stimulation to deal with, while trying to perform at their best, provides invaluable lessons in life and sport whether this is the highest level they reach or a step along the way to Olympic success.”

  • Anna MorganEdinburgh Napier University
    🏊 100m Breaststroke
    Currently swimming out of Edinburgh Napier University Anna has a 100m breaststroke PB of 1.07.36 and is primed to make a splash in Germany.
  • Ciara SchlosshanUniversity of Edinburgh
    🏊 200m Butterfly
    A University of Edinburgh Swimmer with 3 European Junior Championships under her belt already with a 200m fly PB of 2.09.51.
  • Christian RyanUniversity of Bath
    🏊 200m Breaststroke
    Christian holds a 2.15.27 personal best in the 200m breaststroke and will be sure to bring the fire as soon as he steps poolside.
  • Archie GoodburnUniversity of Edinburgh
    🏊 100m Breaststroke
    Archie has a collection of junior medals on the mantel piece with 3 silvers and 3 bronzes. In Archie’s collection is also a Birmingham 2022 Mixed 4x100m medley relay bronze medal. Archie’s explosive pace makes him one to watch on the blocks with a 100m breaststroke PB of 1.00.03.
  • Angelo ContiniLoughborough University
    🏊 100m Freestyle
    A 100m freestyle PB of 50.57 Angelo is set to make a splash in Rhine-Ruhr.
  • Maddox RobertsLoughborough College
    🏊 50m Freestyle
    Pure power and precision — Maddox is dialled in for one of the games’ fastest races with a PB of 22.87 on the clock.
  • Brodie Gordon-GibsonUniversity of Edinburgh
    🏊 100m Butterfly
    Brodie is a versatile freestyle and butterfly swimmer competing and training at the University of Edinburgh, competing in the 100m butterfly at this summers games and coming in with a PB time of 53.33s he’ll be keen to do GB proud.
  • Alexander CaseyLoughborough College
    🏊 200m Individual Medley (IM)
    Master of all four strokes, Alex’s IM event will test both skill and stamina with 2IM of 2:02:58.
  • Fleur LewisLoughborough University
    🏊 800m Freestyle
    In 2023-24 Fleur broke an 18 year standing British Record in the 1500m freestyle at the BUCS Short Course Championships which goes right alongside her multitude of medals she has collected throughout here career so far.
  • Jemima HallUniversity of Bath
    🏊 200m Freestyle

With multiple BUCS long course and short course medals already around her neck and some great international experience, Jemima will be hoping to take her BUCS success to the global stage.
