British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) have announced the GB Students team set to compete at the FISU World University Cross Country Championships in Cassino, Italy on 14-15 March.

GB Students have a proud recent record at the Championships. In 2022, Great Britain claimed the overall team classification, highlighted by a superb women’s 10km 1-2 finish from Izzy Fry and Saskia Millard, alongside a second-place finish in the mixed relay. The team continued its success in 2024, securing gold in the short course mixed relay.

The 2026 squad blends exciting debutants with experienced internationals, reflecting the strength of the university development pathway.

Hayley Hemmings, National Endurance Manager (On Track), said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for athletes to represent GB Students on the international stage. We have a dynamic group this year - a mixture of athletes earning their first GB vest and others who bring valuable experience. That balance creates a powerful environment for performance and growth.

“These championships are about more than just results; they are a crucial step in the athlete development pathway. Competing against the best university athletes in the world challenges our runners and we’re confident this team will embrace that challenge, support one another, and continue the proud legacy established in recent years.”
