BUCS are working in partnership with Buddle to provide a four-part workshop series to support members in roles responsible for the development of university sport clubs and wider student workforce. BUCS’ partnership status with Buddle is an additional benefit of being a system partner of Sport England.

 Buddle is a National Lottery funded programme, which provides free learning and support resources to inspire and strengthen organisations offering sport and physical activity, as well the professionals that work with them. Further information can be found here: About | Buddle

The tutor led four-part workshop series will focus on a number of themes linked to inclusion, positive experiences, volunteers and the community.  Each workshop will be offered twice and will last an hour, with an additional 30 minutes available to network or ask further questions.

In addition, to the four workshops there is an Introduction to Buddle webinar which will provide members with additional information on the opportunities available through Buddle, this will take place on Tuesday 16 September 10:30 – 11.30am. Click here to book your place.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

There is a limit of 20 attendees per workshop and confirmation of your place is based on a first come first served basis. Bookings will close 10 days prior to the workshop date or earlier dependant on demand.

Target audience: university staff directly responsible for supporting their student club committees. It would be most valuable to junior staff, those new to the sector and/or Student Officers.

  • Monday 10 November - Workshop 1: Developing an Inclusive Environment – this workshop explores the barriers individuals face and provides strategies to foster inclusivity.
     
  • Monday 8 December - Workshop 2: Positive Experiences for all people - this workshop uses real-life examples to explore your current activity offerings, helping you identify meaningful changes to better meet the needs of existing and new members.
     
  • Monday 12 January - Workshop 3: Maximising your volunteers experience - this workshop explores how to cultivate a positive volunteering culture, focusing on the '3 Rs'—recruiting, retaining, and rewarding volunteers.
     
  • Monday 9 February 2026 - Workshop 4: Engaging your community - Developed by Buddle, this workshop explores strategies for building stronger connections within your local community.
