We have launched our second annual student survey and need your help to make sure we hear from as many students as possible.

As we approach the end of the BUCS sporting calendar year for 2024-25 we are reflecting on the successes we have seen across the year and looking forward as to how we can make 2025-26 even greater, making sure the student experience is at the heart of this.

We are committed to our strategic ambition of delivering exceptional student experiences that inspire, develop and unite. Last year, in order to know if we were truly doing this, we set out to hear straight from the students themselves in our first annual BUCS Student Survey. The results of this survey allowed us to better understand the BUCS student experience and set ourselves a benchmark. Some of the findings included:

  • 93.5% of students agreed that being involved in sport gave them a sense of belonging to their institution and its community.
  • 88.7% of students agreed that taking part in BUCS sport has helped support their mental wellbeing.
  • 88.5% of students agreed that BUCS sport has contributed positively to their higher education experience.
  • 78.2% of students rated their overall experience in BUCS sport as “excellent” or “good”.

These powerful findings showed us where we were excelling and where we needed to improve, and to set strategic goals to improve the student experience. One year on, it’s now time to hear from the students again to understand how things have changed.

As of April, we have released the second annual BUCS Student Survey to all students that have taken part in a BUCS competition or event in 2024-25. This has been emailed directly to the students and a link is available via the BUCS Play app.  The survey will remain open until Monday 26 May. As with last year’s findings, we hope that the findings from this survey will provide us, and you, with valuable insight about the trends in student experiences of BUCS sport.

Our ask of you, is that you and your team encourage the students within your university who take part in BUCS to complete the survey. The link to the survey can be found at the end of this page.

We will share headline findings from the survey at the BUCS conference in July and will host a webinar to share more detailed findings.

If you have any questions, please see the FAQ document below or email Liz Prinz at [email protected].

If you are a student and want to complete the survey, or a staff member at a BUCS member institution who wants to share the survey with students, here's the link.
