We are looking for two excellent individuals to join us as Outdoor Sports Operations Assistant, working as part of a small operational team at our satellite site, assisting with the daily operation of our outdoor sports facilities. You’ll spend the majority of their time lone working, so will need a good sense of autonomy.
About the role:
You will help ensure that the sports facilities environment is safe for use and that a high level of customer service is maintained at all times.
You will help get sport areas ready for activity (including moving equipment safely), ensuring bookings and users are greeted and assigned to facility areas, delivering first aid provision where required and providing a high quality and friendly customer experience.
There will also be a requirement for you to cover other operational tasks, as required.
You will play a key role in enhancing the University’s reputation for sport, and establish the University as one of the leading modern universities for sport within the HE sector.
The post holder will ensure that the role is delivered in line with our vision, mission and values at all times.
You should be a highly motivated individual with a real passion for sport.
You will work a 37 hour week, with your working hours on a shift based system which will include the requirement for you to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
You will be based at Langstone Sports Village.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. We are eager to ensure our teams are diverse in terms of all the protected characteristics and representative of all the stakeholders that use our facilities. We would therefore particularly welcome applications from candidates who are Black, Asian, or from other ethnic groups not currently well represented in our teams, as well as from candidates who consider themselves to have a disability.
The University of Portsmouth believes this role is not eligible for sponsorship with UKVI under the Skilled Worker Route visa. You will need to confirm details of an alternative visa to work in the UK when applying for this role. Anonymous shortlisting will be carried out for this role as part of our commitment to equality and diversity, ensuring a fair and consistent approach to recruitment.
Personal details will not be disclosed to the shortlisting panel. If you’ve been asked to upload further documents, they should not contain identifying information.
We kindly ask that candidates do not attach CVs or cover letters as these will not be considered.
