Mixed Relay:
Institution administrators (IA) are responsible for entering a team into team events. Only once the IA has entered a team, students should apply for the correct team on BUCS Play.
The IA must then select competitors to form the ‘Squad’.
A student is not able to join a team until their IA has entered a team.
You MUST inform your IA if you would like to enter a team to ensure the entry deadline is not missed. Please communicate with your IA to ensure all entries are made and approved on time.
Students must be listed in the squad to compete in the team events.

Entry Allowance
Sprint Triathlon:
Institutions are permitted two guaranteed entries, and an unlimited number of non-guaranteed entries. Institutions must rank their competitors on BUCS Play in order of preference before the closing date. If the event reaches capacity these rankings will be used to determine the start list.
The capacity for this event is 550 competitors.
Mixed Relay:
Institutions are permitted 1 team entry to the Mixed Relay. The team must comprise of two females and two who meet the criteria of an ‘open’ athlete. For clarity the definitions of ‘female’ and ‘open’ please refer to British Triathlons Transgender Policy HERE.
Competition Format & Course Description
The BUCS Sprint Triathlon will comprise of:
400m Swim – 16 lengths of 25m swimming pool
22km Open Road Bike – the course is made of 4 left turns on quiet but wide country roads (route map)
5km Closed Road Run – 3x laps of the grounds, on a mix of tarmac and trail/grass through the estate (route map).
The BUCS Mixed Relay will comprise of:
150m Swim – 6 lengths of 25m swimming pool
7km Open Road Bike – 1 lap course of all left turns (route map)
1.67km Closed Road Run – 1 lap of the grounds, on a mix of tarmac and trail/grass through the estate (route map).

Open Overall Team – The team placing shall be determined by the fastest cumulative time for three open athletes from the same institution.

Women’s Overall Team – The team placing shall be determined by the fastest cumulative time for three female athletes from the same institution.
Only one team per university per team competition will be awarded BUCS points.
*Para-athletes of all eligible classifications compete alongside non-disabled athletes but results for eligible para-athletes are extracted and ranked separately on a multi-classification basis using a factoring system.
Please note that BUCS points will not be allocated where the minimum number of competitors has not been reached, and where there are not enough individual scores to extract a team score. Furthermore, an individual/team must have beaten another individual/team to score BUCS points (i.e. if 3 individuals finish an event, only 2 will score BUCS points)
Event Schedule
Registration and venue opens – 07:30 onwards
Transition Opens – 07:50
Swim starts - from 09:00. Swim waves are based on estimated swim times and will be released 1 week before the event.
All buses on site no later than 09:30. If you will be arriving by bus later than this, please contact the race organiser on [email protected] to arrange.
Please note: The timetable is subject to change depending on entry numbers. Final wave times will be released in the Event Guide once entries close.
Withdrawals
To withdraw, please contact your institution administrator who should contact the event lead.
The entry fee will not be charged for entries withdrawn prior to the entry deadline, Once the closing date has passed, entry fees will be charged for any withdrawals.
