  • 2nd: 8 points and silver medal

Further information about BUCS points for this event can be found in Appendix 1. There are no overall team points available due to the league and knockouts programme for Table Tennis.

Entry Allowance

Each institution will be allowed ten guaranteed entries into MS and WS, and two guaranteed entries into MD, WD and XD.

Each institution may submit an unlimited amount of non-guaranteed entries per competition. Non-guaranteed entries may be accepted for each competition following the entry closing date if the competition allows. Should the event reach capacity BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution. Non-guaranteed entries will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition.

When submitting singles entries on BUCS Play, non-guaranteed entries MUST be ranked in order of preference of entry before being submitted. Should BUCS need to restrict per this will be done equally across institutions.

All doubles entries MUST also be ranked in order and the same as their partner i.e., if a university has 2 women's doubles pairs, these must be ranked 1, 1 & 2, 2, in their correct pairings. Failure to rank players correctly causes issues with pre-event admin in terms of seeding & scheduling. If doubles players aren't ranked by IA's they will not be included in the competition.

Consultation and seeding of entries accepted into the competition will be taken in tandem with the BUCS Table Tennis Sport Advisory Group (SAG).

Competition Format

Men Singles and Women Singles competitions are run using a group stage followed by a knockout stage. All players will either progress to the championship or plate knock out stage after the initial groups stage.

Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles competitions are run using a group stage followed by a knockout stage. Groups will consist of 3 teams, with 1 team from each group progressing to the knockout stage.

The Doubles competition is scheduled to take place on Friday 17th November, and the singles competitions on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th November.

Special Awards

There will be two player of the tournament awards voted for by the umpires this year.

Identification of Players

For 2023-24, the BUCS Table Tennis Championships will utilise names, rather than start numbers, to identify players during the weekend. As such, players may wish to have names printed onto their kit. An example of how this should look can be seen here. Please note the country does not need to be present as on this example, but can be if you wish.

If your kit does not have a name on the back, there will be the facility on the day to write your name and pin this to the back of your kit.

If you have any queries, please email Chris Lamb.

Rules & Regulations
