Staged Entry
Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

Seeding
Seeding for heats will be conducted using the following information. It will be completed by BUCS in conjunction with the Tournament Director:

Individual results from the 2025-26 competition

Team results from the 2025-26 competition

Wildcards – competitors applying who have not previously competed in the BUCS Surfing Championships but who have surfed competitively at an elite level

Competitors who intend to surf on a shortboard, as the competition is judged on shortboard criteria
At point of entry all competitors will be asked whether they wish to apply for a wildcard seed, and what type of board they intend to use at the Championships.
Rules and Regulations
Withdrawals
Competitor withdrawals must be made by a competitors athletic/ students union by emailing Maddi Cannell.
Withdrawals before the entry deadline, 24th September 2026 at 23:59 [Stage 1] will not be charged.
Withdrawals after the entry deadline 24th September 2026 at 23:59 [Stage 1] and before midday on the 8th October 2026 will be fined £10 and will still be charged the entry fee.
Competitors who do not withdraw before midday on the 14th October 2026 and do not attend registration will be classed as a late withdrawal/ no show and therefore will be charged the entry fee and will also be fined £20 which will be charged after the event to the competitor’s athletic union.
Should BUCS have to open Stage 2 entries then new deadlines for withdrawals will be published. Reserves will only be charged an entry fee if they are accepted into the competition.

Photography & Videography
Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event. Once you have completed the form, please go to the BUCS Desk at the event to receive your media accreditation.
BUCS reserves the right to prohibit photography equipment being used at a BUCS event. BUCS reserves the right to request that the individual ceases to take photographs, deletes any images and, if considered necessary, leaves the venue.
