Captains' Meeting

The captain’s meeting is compulsory. This will take place at 08:00 outside the BUCS Office.

Any universities not represented will be fined £20.

If you are not part of the Captains' WhatsApp group, and would like to be added, please email Harry Spinks

Bibs

ALL bibs must be returned to the BUCS Office at the event. Lost or stolen bibs will result in a £50 fine.

Spectators

As outlined in the entry information, there are no spectators permitted at this event.

Presentations

There will be multiple prize giving ceremonies throughout the day, following each of the competitions.

The freestyle prize giving is scheduled to take place at 16:00 at Big Air.

The racing prize giving is scheduled to take place at 19:30 on the Main Slope.

Parking

Due to major ongoing construction work, there will be no overflow car park or car park at the main road. Coaches and vehicles carrying students will need to drop off and then park elsewhere for the day.

The main car park will have a very limited number of spaces. Please note all vehicles are left at the owner’s risk.

Food and Drink

The venue café will be open to all staff and competitors, serving hot and cold food throughout the day. The café will be open from 07:00 to 20:30.

Clothing and Equipment

All competitors must wear helmets. These must be secured and fastened correctly. BUCS reserves the right to disqualify athletes who do not wear long sleeves and who’s helmet is not done up correctly. Alongside this, mounted cameras and Go Pros will not be allowed during competition. BUCS strongly advises against mounts of any description on any helmets.

Lift Use

Race - Only competitors wearing their bibs and ski equipment will be able to use the lift. For ski race inspection females will go first. Once inspection is shut, we will allow individuals onto the lift based on the letter of their university i.e we will name call universities and ask them to make their way to the top of the slope, in order. This is to ensure smooth access to the start area and for competitions to run on time.

Freestyle – Competitors will collect their bibs at the top. After the first round of freestyle, every competitor must be wearing a bib to be allowed up on the lift.

Double Entry Competitor

Should you be entered into both racing and freestyle, you should prioritise racing over freestyle. As soon as completing your first run, you should make your way to freestyle.

Photography and Videography

Anyone wishing to take photos or video at this event must complete the BUCS Media Accreditation Form prior to the event. Please email Harry Spinks to confirm your intent to attend the event.

Behavioural Warning

Upon entry all competitors will be searched by security along with their bags.
All alcohol found upon a person entering the premises will be confiscated permanently.

Staff - All our volunteers and staff will be treated with respect at all times. If this respect is not seen, BUCS reserve the right to remove this person from the premises. Competitors are subject to the BUCS rules and regulations, whereby should you be in violation of the BUCS rules you will be sanctioned.

Drone Policy

The use of drones at BUCS events is strictly prohibited. They are also strictly prohibited at Hillend, due to the proximity to the airport.

Alcohol and Drugs

Drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the premises. Security will be searching people and bags at the entrance – anyone found to be in possession of any prohibited items will be refused entry and disqualified.

As can be seen in Reg 5.1.2 below, there will be a zero-tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol.

REG 5.1.2 The consumption of alcohol or recreational drugs (in addition to substances covered under REG 4.5) by competitors will not be tolerated. Competitors at any BUCS event or fixture found to be consuming such substances will be automatically disqualified and may face further disciplinary action under this regulation.

BUCS Points

Please see Appendix 1 (Page 27) for the BUCS Points available at this event.

Sustainability

The sustainability of our event matters to us and these are the positive steps we are taking to manage our environmental impact:

  • All staff and volunteers are encouraged to travel to the event via public transport
  • We have used local suppliers where possible
  • Event programmes are all online, minimising paper use

How can you help at this event? Here’s some ideas:

  • Be self-sufficient by using refillable bottles and coffee cups to reduce waste
  • Travel smarter – as a team on a minibus, cycle or use public transport
  • Go paperless - use your phone for all event information
