ENTRY COSTS

£18 for Individual entry

£41 for Relay entry (Per Team of 3 Competitors)

Should the competition allow more entries a Stage 2 Entry window will open. Priority will remain with the entries received before the Stage 1 entry closing date. Entries received in the Stage 2 window and accepted into the competition, will be charged an additional 20% fee.

BUCS POINTS

BUCS Points are awarded to the Top 4 Individuals in the A Class only, for both Men and Women. 

BUCS Points are also awarded for the top 4 Relay Teams, again for both Men and Women.

BUCS Points are also awarded to the top 8 teams in the competition. Team placings are decided by adding the placings of the three best individual Men/Women to the placing (multiplied by three) of its best placed Men’s/Women’s relay team.

Entry Allowance

This event is limited to 300 people, due to permissions with Beecraigs Country Park and transportation issues if greater than 300. Therefore, if the event capacity of 300 is reached, entries will be restricted to 30 per club. If this is still not sufficient, this will be reduced to a maximum of 20 entries per club.

Entry Process

INDIVIDUAL EVENT

To apply for the competition all eligible competitors must follow these steps:

  1. Competitor to apply to the event on BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  2. Institution administrator approves entry (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list

RELAY EVENT

To apply for this competition:

  1. Entries will need to be submitted via the team entries section of our online entry system, BUCS Play (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)
  2. Please speak to your Institution Administrator as they will need to submit your entry.
  3. A Team Captain must be selected as part of the team before entries close.
  4. Competitors then need to apply for their respective team. (Instructions on how to do this can be found here)

Qualification for European University Championships

This event will be used as qualification for European University Championships 2023. The top 4 teams will automatically qualify. The qualified teams will have to confirm their attendance within 7 days of event completion with permission from their institution.

Rules & Regulations

The Rules & Regulations for Orienteering can be found here. Please note, these are still under review for 2023 will be updated prior to the event. You can also find the British Orienteering rules for a National Event here.

INDIVIDUAL EVENT: Starts will be seeded by BOF Ranking points, as can be found on British Orienteering. Individuals with an incomplete number of ranking scores may be seeded higher than their ranking to allow for more accurate evaluation of orienteering ability. This event will be run in a time trial format. There will be at least 2 minutes gap between starters on the same course, and at least a 4 minute gap between two starters on the same course from the same university.

RELAY EVENT: There will be a mass start for first leg runners on the relay. Second and third leg runners will start when the previous competitor finishes.

Withdrawals & Changes

Withdrawals will be permitted from this event, by emailing Chris Lamb, BUCS Lead.

Withdrawals prior to the entry deadline (Thursday 23 February at 23:59pm) will not be charged their entry fee.

Withdrawals after the entry deadline (Thursday 23 February at 23:59pm) will still be charged their entry fee.
