BUCS Karate Championships 2025 - 26
Competitor Disclaimer
Karate is a contact sport that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
The organisers of the BUCS Karate Championships cannot be held responsible for any injury/loss resulting from competing in the event, or whilst using the sports centre/car park facilities.
Universities are responsible for providing appropriate safety cover for their athletes. Whether insuring the athletes or informing the athletes to gain their own insurance. BUCS does not insure any of its competitors for any of its events.
Participants in the tournament should be aware of the dangers inherent in Karate and should be suitably experienced to compete in the event they are entering. By agreeing to the disclaimer upon entry, they accept responsibility for their involvement in an ‘assumed risk’ sport.
If a participant receives a head injury and is advised by a medical professional, either a doctor, physio or paramedic, on site not to continue competing in the BUCS Karate Championships due to the risk of causing further injury or damage, they MUST medically withdraw from the event.
ALL competitors are required to hold “Member to Member” insurance cover and they must agree to this disclaimer before taking part in the event.
Please note as per BUCS regulations that this event will be run in accordance with WKF rules. Universities and competitors are reminded that a recognisable, valid Karate licence must be presented upon request; failure to do so will result in entry being denied. When agreeing to the disclaimer you are acknowledging that you understand this.
If a competitor is not willing to agree to the disclaimer then they will not be able to compete in the competition.
