Polly Botts Road

Riders will take on the climb of Polly Botts Road. At less than a mile in length, averaging a 7% gradient with peaks of 19%, this short course will see the best riders finishing in around the 2 minutes 20 seconds mark for overall victory.
 

ADDRESS

Head-Quarters - Based 1 mile away, the sign on/off, chip collection, toilets and presentation will all occur in the seasonal location of Bradgate Trees, a Christmas Tree farm based just outside of Bradgate Park.

From here, riders and spectators alike can ride downhill towards the start line.

Entry Cost - £16 (Stage 1)

Once Stage 1 has closed, any approved entries after 28 October who withdraw will still be charged the entry fee.

Stage 2

We will be running a stage 2 process for this event.

Stage 2 Entry Cost: £20

Student/Competitor Stage 2 Deadline: Tuesday 2 November 2021 at 23:59. (Students must apply by this deadline)

Institution Administrator Approval Deadline: Wednesday 3 November 2021 at 23:59

Any Stage 2 approved entries who withdraw after 3 November will still be charged the entry fee.

ENTRY ALLOWANCE

Institutions are permitted an unlimited number of non-guaranteed entries. Institutions must rank their competitors on BUCS Play in order of preference before the closing date. Should BUCS need to restrict entries, this will be done equally across institutions.

Where applicable all Para Athletes will be guaranteed entries.

No entries will be accepted on the day.

  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.

Individuals will automatically be entered into the team competitions, provided there are enough eligible individuals from that institution to comprise a team. Please note the following team compositions:

Men’s Overall Team – The team placing shall be determined by the fastest cumulative time for three riders from the same institution.

Women’s Overall Team – The team placing shall be determined by the fastest cumulative time for two riders from the same institution.

 

BUCS Points can be found here

BUCS points will not be allocated where: 

  • The minimum number of competitors has not been reached
  • Where there are not enough individual scores to extract a team score.

An individual/team must have beaten another individual/team to score BUCS points (i.e. if three individuals finish an event, only two will score BUCS points).

COVID-19 Measures

The safety of students, volunteers and staff remains paramount as we move into the 2021-22 season, therefore for the time being we will still be implementing a series of Covid-19 Measures at our events. Although certain safety measures surrounding Covid-19 will be dictated by a venue or specific sport requirements we will be continuing to implement the following general measures across all of our events:

  1. Event Disclaimer includes specifics around Covid-19
  2. Whist inside staff members and volunteers interacting with competitors will be wearing appropriate face coverings
  3. Covid-19 questionnaire completed prior to arrival at the event by all competitors, officials, volunteers and support staff.
  4. Access to hand-washing facilities, or hand sanitiser

What’s expected of competitors:

  1. Event competitors should stay home if they have any Covid-19 symptoms, live in the same household with someone with Covid-19 symptoms or have been diagnosed with, or suspected to have, Covid-19 in the past 10 days
  2. Competitors should stay home if they have been instructed to quarantine due to international travel restrictions or by NHS Track and Trace
  3. Competitors must follow direction from event staff, venue staff and volunteers.
  4. Competitors must complete Covid-19 questionnaire prior to arrival at the event  
  5. Competitors should ensure they are following hand hygiene practices at all times
  6. Competitors are encouraged to wear a face covering when indoors and moving about the building
  7. Competitors should follow the guidance and safety procedures outlined for the event you are attending. These can be found in the Event Guide once released.
  8. Competitors unable to attend event due to Covid-19 must contact the event lead

Lateral Flow Tests and Vaccine Status 

  1. For some events, dependent on local council recommendations or venue requirements we may require proof of negative PCR or rapid lateral flow tests within the last 48 hours or proof of being fully vaccinated for a least 2 weeks.

Withdrawal Policy

For insurance purposes, the start list must be submitted to CTT prior to the race day.

Competitors who withdraw after the entry deadline will still be charged the entry fee.

Competitors who are accepted in stage 1 and withdrawal after the stage 1 entry deadline will still be charged the entry fee, regardless of a potential stage 2 window still being open.

Competitors who are accepted into stage 2 and withdraw after the stage 2 entry deadline will still be charged the entry fee.

Competitors who withdraw after 23:59 on Wednesday 3 November 2021, and/or do not attend registration will be classed as a late withdrawal/no show and therefore will be charged the entry fee and will also be fined £20 which will be charged after the event to the competitors athletic union.

Should a withdrawal be accompanied with a valid doctor's note, no fine will be given but the entry fee will still be charged.
