Please note, an Open Team can be made of any 3 boats per team of any gender of person.

A Mixed Team can be made up of 3 boats per team and is open to all boats of either gender except Men’s K1.

In addition, an individual competitor may only enter each Team Event once and if entering both the Open and Mixed Team Events must paddle a different boat class in each, so a competitor cannot paddle their K1, C1 or C2 in both an Open and a Mixed Team.

Please note that this year each team you wish to enter for either Team Event should be submitted as a separate entry, in each case entering the relevant individuals that constitute that team, noting that each individual can only be entered in a maximum of ONE Open Team and ONE Mixed Team.
 

Equipment

K1 Classic and Sprint: all types of K1 Kayak allowed
C1 Classic and Sprint: all types of C1 closed cockpit 1 person canoe allowed
C2 Classic and Sprint: event open to both men and women, all types of c2 closed cockpit 2 person canoe allowed
Open Team Classic: can be made up of any 3 boats per team of any gender.
Mixed Team Classic: can be made up of 3 boats per team and is open to all boats of either gender except Men K1

An individual competitior may only enter each Team Event once. If entering both the open and mixed team events must paddle a different boat class in each. 

Entry Allowance

The event has a capacity of 400 competitors.

Institutions can request up to 30 non-guaranteed entries in both the male and female events.

Should the event reach capacity, BUCS may need to restrict the number of entries per institution.

This means when submitting entries on BUCS Play, for both the Men’s and Women’s competition, competitors should be ranked in order of preference before being submitted.
 

Entry Process

To apply for this competition:

  1. Competitor to complete competition application on BUCS Play
  2. Institution administrator approves entry
  3. BUCS approves/denies entry into competition and publishes confirmed entry list.

Covid-19 Measures

The safety of students, volunteers and staff remains paramount as we move into the 2021-22 season, therefore for the time being we will still be implementing a series of Covid-19 Measures at our events. Although certain safety measures surrounding Covid-19 will be dictated by a venue or specific sport requirements we will be continuing to implement the following general measures across all of our events:

  1. Event Disclaimer includes specifics around Covid-19
  2. Whist inside staff members and volunteers interacting with competitors will be wearing appropriate face coverings
  3. Covid-19 questionnaire completed prior to arrival at the event by all competitors, officials, volunteers and support staff.
  4. Access to hand-washing facilities, or hand sanitiser

What’s expected of competitors:

  1. Event competitors should stay home if they have any Covid-19 symptoms, live in the same household with someone with Covid-19 symptoms or have been diagnosed with, or suspected to have, Covid-19 in the past 10 days
  2. Competitors should stay home if they have been instructed to quarantine due to international travel restrictions or by NHS Track and Trace
  3. Competitors must follow direction from event staff, venue staff and volunteers.
  4. Competitors must complete Covid-19 questionnaire prior to arrival at the event  
  5. Competitors should ensure they are following hand hygiene practices at all times
  6. Competitors are encouraged to wear a face covering when indoors and moving about the building
  7. Competitors should follow the guidance and safety procedures outlined for the event you are attending. These can be found in the Event Guide once released.
  8. Competitors unable to attend event due to Covid-19 must contact the event lead

Lateral Flow Tests and Vaccine Status 

  1. For some events, dependent on local council recommendations or venue requirements we may require proof of negative PCR or rapid lateral flow tests within the last 48 hours or proof of being fully vaccinated for a least 2 weeks. 
  1. If this is required it will be detailed in the entry information and the event guide for that event.

The safety of everyone remains paramount in the 2021-22 season. Everyone attending this event must comply with current UK Government and Scottish Government regulations at all times.

At the publication date of this Event Guide, it remains mandatory to wear face coverings indoors in Scotland except where specific exemptions apply.

Access to hand-washing facilities and hand sanitiser will be provided at Grandtully Station Park, where Race Control is located.
