Weekend Schedule

Sprint event - Saturday 26th Nov - River Tay, Grandtully rapids -

Get on water:    Take Lageonan Rd and cross A827. Get on at the road bridge - on the south bank

Sprint Start:      Just downstream of the road bridge on south bank, as directed
Sprint Finish:     Below the “Fourth fall”, the rapid below the road bridge

Get off water:   Just below race finish. Exit river on south bank to the layby used by canoeists and rafters


Classic event - Sunday 27th Nov - River Tay, from Edradynate to Grandtully

Get on water:    SCA Access Point at Edradynate on north bank - there is an SCA sign on the field gate

Classic Start:     At the SCA access point, as directed
Classic Finish:    Well upstream of the left hand bend that leads into the Grandtully rapid
 

Get off water:   After finishing, all participants are to keep to the right and take the former mill lade.
                        Get out to the RHS of mill lade and follow the pedestrian route back to Grandtully Campsite.
                        This is the same finish and get-out as per 2021.

Registration

Race control throughout the events will be at Grandtully Station Campsite. All competitors will be issued with a numbered race bib before racing. This must be worn by the competitor to which it is issued at all times whilst on the water on Saturday and Sunday.

Registration and race bib collection will be open at the following times at Grandtully Station Campsite:

  • Friday              1600-1800 - registration and bib pick-up
  • Saturday           0800-0900 - registration and bib pick-up
  • Saturday           1600-1800 - bib collection and return
  • Sunday            0800-0900 - bib collection and return
  • Sunday             1300-1700 - bib return

Changing Facilities

Grandtully Station Campsite facilities are available for changing and toilets. An accessible toilet is available.

First Aid

The First Aid point will be clearly signposted at Grandtully during the competition.

Food and Drink

Strathtay Stores is on the north side of the river just up from the green bridge. It is open daily
9am-4pm (until 2pm on Sunday). It contains a Post Office and cash machine (inside the building)

Inn on the Tay is open Wednesday to Sunday and has a restaurant and bar serving food and drinks

Grandtully Hotel is open daily and has a restaurant and bar serving food and drinks

Highland Chocolatier is open daily 10am-5pm serving coffees, teas and snacks in its cafe

CO-OP in Aberfeldy (approx. 4 miles) is open till 10pm each day. There is also a petrol station.

Presentations

Results will be published (online and locally) as soon as they are available after each event. Prize giving will take place at Grandtully Station Campsite as soon as the results have been compiled and verified.

Clothing and Equipment

Participants should be aware that taking part in outdoor watersports in Scotland in November requires appropriate kit and clothing to be worn, on and off the water. There are no drying facilities at Grandtully Station Campsite therefore participants should bring sufficient quality and quantity of kit/clothing, with the expectation that kit/clothing will not get dry during the event. In addition to paddling clothing please bring sufficient warm and waterproof clothing to last you through the weekend.
