Withdrawals

If an individual who has qualified for the National Finals withdraws before 5pm on Friday 4 March 2022, the next best scorer from the Regional Qualifiers for their particular event will be allocated their space where possible and the individual who withdrew will be fined £5.

When withdrawals are received before 5pm Friday 4th March 2022, BUCS will contact the Institution Administrator of the individual that has been allocated that space as well as updating the qualification list online. Any individuals who have not initially qualified are therefore encouraged to check the qualification list themselves to see if they have been allocated a space as the result of any withdrawals.

The final target list will be published on Friday 11 March after any withdrawals have been processed and these places re-allocated where possible. Only those persons listed on the final target list can participate.

If an individual who has qualified for the National Finals withdraws after 5pm on Wednesday 9th March 2022, their place will not be re-allocated and the individual who withdrew will be fined £20.

If an individual who has qualified for the National Finals fails to show at the event, having not withdrawn, their place will not be re-allocated and the individual will be fined £25.

Where a player develops a new injury/medical condition between the Regional Qualifiers and the National Finals requiring them to withdraw, a medical note can be submitted to avoid incurring a fine.

Notification of a withdrawal should be sent via e-mail by the individual’s Institution Administrator to Olivia Hellas.

Team

Individuals who qualified for the National Finals have automatically been entered into the BUCS Championship team competitions as well, provided there are enough eligible individuals from that institution to comprise a team at the National Finals. Team awards will be awarded on the scores from the WA 18m round.

Please note the following team compositions:

Men’s Team Championship – The team score shall be the highest three non-compound scores from the eligible male competitors from each institution, either Experienced or Novice.

Women’s Team Championship – The team score shall be the highest three non-compound scores from the eligible female competitors from each institution, either Experienced or Novice.

Open Compound Team Championship – The team score shall be the highest two compound scores from the eligible male or female competitors from each institution, either Experienced or Novice. Compound teams will not be eligible for BUCS Points.

A breakdown of BUCS Points can be found in Appendix 1 BUCS Competition Offer and Associated BUCS Points.

Registration

Registration and Equipment inspection will be completed approximately 15 minutes prior to the scheduled session start time. Archers will be called up onto the shooting line with their equipment where it will be inspected by a judge and your membership cards will be checked by a member of the field party.

All competitors MUST present a photographic student ID card and Archery GB membership card or an official Archery GB Subscription Fee Receipt as proof of membership at registration. Anyone without the relevant identification may not be permitted to compete.

Rounds

The event will be shot to World Archery rules. The event will consist of a WA 18m round for seeding and the team competition scores followed by head-to-head rounds to award the individual champions. Shooting will be in timed ends of 2 minutes to shoot 3 arrows. There will be countdown timers. Recurve and Compound archers will shoot a 40cm triple vertical face, Longbow and Barebow archers will shoot at a full 40cm face. The head-to-head rounds will be for Recurve, Longbow and Barebow best of 5 sets; for Compound it will be the highest score from 15 arrows. Individual medals will be awarded for the head-to-head results for each category.
