BUCS Big Wednesday is our team finals event showcasing Championship and Trophy finals across 16 league sports. The event will take place at Loughborough University on 24-25 March 2026

BUCS Big Wednesday, sees the culmination of 16 BUCS team sports with 60 teams being able to walk away with gold medals over two big days of finals. The finals will be hosted at Loughborough University across five sport hubs. American Football will kick off the action on Tuesday, followed by the remaining sports and fixtures on the Wednesday.

Ticket Information

This is a ticketed event, and tickets are available to purchase here. Please note that tickets vary by sport, so ensure you select the correct ticket before purchasing. Tickets purchased in error are non-refundable. As this event has limited capacity it is highly recommended that you purchase your tickets in advance. Tickets will only be available to buy on the day online (via your phone) if there is capacity. No cash will be accepted.

Players

To guarantee entry into any fixture at BUCS Big Wednesday, players are strongly advised to purchase a ticket. Only a limited number of accredited players will be permitted entry at each venue.

Accessible Tickets

Accessible tickets are available for a number of indoor sports and include admission for a carer. These tickets are suitable for wheelchair users, with seating provided at ground level where bleacher seating is in use. If accessible tickets for a particular sport are not advertised or are sold out, please email [email protected] and we will endeavour to accommodate requests where possible.

Child Tickets

Child tickets are not available for this event. However, U16s may purchase a student ticket (no student ID is required) and must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must also hold a valid ticket.  

Media Accreditation

Media accreditation for BUCS Big Wednesday is now open and can be obtained by completing this form. This form will close on Sunday 22 March 2026 at 11.59pm and further details will be sent to all successful applicants on Monday 23 March 2026.

This year we are live streaming Championship Tennis, Squash, Basketball, Badminton, Fencing Lacrosse, Hockey, Wheelchair Basketball, Water Polo, Volleyball and Football. We will also be streaming all three American Football games, both Rugby League and Netball games.

No livestreams (including Facebook or Instagram Lives), other than BUCS official livestreams, are authorised during BUCS Big Wednesday.

Spectator Catering

Food and refreshments will be available for spectators to purchase at the event. There will be food stands at the following locations:

1st XV Pitch off Towers Way: Tuesday 10:30-20:00 & Wednesday 09:30-21:00

All locations will serve hot food, and a selection of hot and cold drinks. Alcohol will not be served until 12:00 and only alcohol purchased at these Loughborough Catering Outlets can be bought into the venues.

Loughborough University Students Union also has a host of shops, cafes and food outlets.

From the train station

Bus

The Sprint Bus service operates between Loughborough Train Station and Holywell Park running through the length of the university campus.  It is a 15-20 minute journey from the train station to the east side of campus (Hubs 1,2,3 and 4) and a 20-25 minute journey to Holywell (Hub 5). Buses run every 10 minutes between 8am-6pm, after which they run every 20 minutes. The Sprint bus timetable can be found here. There will be additional buses circulating campus more frequently.  

Train Station -> Loughborough University Campus 

The first bus leaves the train station at 7:30am and the last bus leaves at 9pm. 

Loughborough University Campus -> Train Station  

The first bus leaves Holywell Park at 8:05am and the last bus leaves campus from the Students Union for the train station at 9:13pm. 

Walk 

It is a 40 minute walk from the train station to the East Entrance of Campus. It is an hour walk to the Holywell side of Campus so the free shuttle bus on campus is recommended. 

Spectator Parking

Spectators should enter the campus using the West Entrance (What Three Words Location: wipes.dinner.hell) to park at Holywell Conference Centre or Car Park 1.

If you are travelling to watch sports at Hubs 1-4 please allow time to make your way across campus. It is up to a 25 minute walk from Holywell Conference Centre to the east side of campus for these sport venues. Alternatively, please make use of the free campus shuttle busses from the Holywell Park bus stop. These run every 5-10 minutes but there will be additional buses circulating campus more frequently on BUCS Big Wednesday.

Please follow instructions from security when you arrive on campus, who will direct you where to park.

Accessible Parking

There are accessible parking bays located at Holywell Fitness Centre, Tennis and Squash Centre, Car Park 15 (for Hockey) and Car Park 9 (for Hub 3). These will be on a first come first served basis. Please ensure blue badges are displayed when driving onto campus.
