The BUCS Sailing programme offers a wide range of sailing opportunities and competitions. There is a BUCS Fleet Racing Championships, Yachting Championships, Match Racing Championships and Team Racing Championships.
BUCS Sailing also has an international component, with Match Racing making up part of the World University Championships.
The BUCS domestic sailing programme consists of 4 Championships:
The Fleet Racing Championships has over 100 boats competing across four fleets, with representatives from over 17 universities.
The Yachting Championships take place over 4 days and are currently held at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. Over 200 sailors compete in Sunsail F40s, with 26 teams battling it out to be crowned champions.
The Match Racing Championships are hosted at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. Competitors race for 4 days on Portland Harbour in the RYA’s fleet of Elliot 6m yachts.
Over 20 teams compete in the BUCS Team Racing Championship finals. To qualify for the finals, they must navigate their way successfully through Regional Qualifiers and Playoffs.

Sailing is part of the BUCS international programme and is competed at the World University Championships in the format of Match Racing.
The World University Championships are for national representative teams (GB & NI) and are held every two years in various countries across the world.
