It was a familiar sight in the BUCS overall winners competition as Loughborough continued to rule the roost in 2024-25.

At our annual awards ceremony, Loughborough lifted the overall winners trophy, ahead of second placed Nottingham and Durham in third.

It is the 44th year in a row that the African Violet has accumulated the most amount of BUCS Points to be named the overall winners.

Loughborough’s consistent domination across the BUCS sport programme has helped them continue this remarkable record-breaking run.

Adding to the countless medals won in event sports, particularly athletics and swimming, the African Violet racked up many points through league and knockout competition.

Top level league titles include Men’s BUCS Super Rugby, ICG Women’s Premier Hockey, Men’s Premier Hockey and Women’s Premier Tennis.

BUCS Big Wednesday was another major success for Loughborough this season, winning five National Championships: women’s netball and tennis, as well as men’s football, basketball and badminton.

The university’s winning of titles concluded in late June with the women’s cricket 1s securing the National Championship for the third time in as many years.

Congratulations to Loughborough University on another season of sporting excellence.
