BUCS isn't all about competitive sport. For many, it is about getting moving and staying active.

Today is ukactive's National Fitness Day. It is all about highlighting the role physical activity plays across the UK. It focuses on raising awareness of the importance of living healthy and active lifestyle.

BUCS aims to get as many students active through not only it's sport but also its other initiatives.

The UNIversal Gym membership scheme has over 90 gyms across the United Kingdom that opens its doors to annual peak gym memberships. This means students and staff at participating universities can access these gyms for free when travelling around the country.

The recent BUCS Active 2 funding saw over 5,000 students get moving through the activity offered by their universities as part of the BUCS Active projects, where over 80% of participants said that getting active improved their study performance.

National Fitness Day sees a huge range of activity across the country and is a great opportunity to get universities involved in the day. We recommend members to use this day as an opportunity to activate programmes or initiatives running for the 2019 -20 academic year at your institution to both your staff and students

National Fitness Day is Wednesday 25th of September.
