Hustings kicked us off, with several positions within BUCS governance structures up for election.
We heard from 11 nominees for the positions of Student Officer, Student Director, Chair of Advisory Group and Board Trustee, Chair of Senior Managers Executive/Network and Board Trustee and Chair of Competitions Group.
After hearing manifestos and completing an interactive Q&A, candidates and voters headed to the morning breakout sessions before networking with fellow delegates and BUCS partners.
30 minutes later, we welcomed Rugby World Cup winner, Rocky Clark MBE to share her experiences of university sport, time as a BUCS coach and incredible career on the international stage.
Following a pit stop for lunch, it was onto the next exciting installment of the agenda, the Sport.HE podcast.
The host Ben O’Connell, Cardiff Metropolitan University Director of Sport comprised a panel of students to discuss their lived experience of higher education sport.
As we approached the final stretch of day two, it was time to return to breakout rooms for the second batch of thought-provoking sessions.
One more opportunity for networking was on the cards, before an update from BUCS CEO, Will Roberts.
Will shared insights into BUCS’ performance over the 2024-25 season, and our ambitions throughout the current strategy period, ending in 2030. He also reiterated the organisational commitment to providing value to members and students, as well as running a healthy and sustainable organisation.
Tonight, delegates will be treated to a night of trivia from quizmaster extraordinaire, BUCS Head of Competitions, Neal Kington.
