We know that in this uncertain time, you are eager to get back to sport and to your teams. At BUCS, we’ve been working hard alongside National Governing Bodies and universities to establish the best way of bringing back sports leagues and competitions to universities in a safe and controlled manner.

Our Events calendar is already available here, and official team league and knockout activity will take place from January. However, we recognise the importance that sport and physical activity has on physical and mental wellbeing, so we have provisions in place for the return of competition this term.

BUCS has created an ‘opt-in’ team programme for Term One which offers universities the opportunity to take part in friendly matches before Christmas.

We appreciate that universities are facing significant challenges at the moment, and not everyone will be quite ready to return to sport. We acknowledge and support the decision of universities who would rather wait until Term Two to engage in the official league and knockout competition.

To see if your university, sport and team are involved in our Term One activity, and to view the leagues and fixtures, please register on BUCS Play.

Leagues will be localised (eg. Midlands), and fixtures will differ dependent on uptake and local restrictions put in place. Fixtures can be organised from week commencing 5 October and run until 16 December.

If your team isn't listed on BUCS Play fixtures, please speak to your university BUCS Administrator. We may be able to add teams where requested but only where it aligns with your university's approach to inter-university fixtures in term one.

At a time when government restrictions are changing on a rapid basis, we require all teams to follow the guidelines of your sport’s National Governing Body, which are being updated regularly.

We hope that our Term One ‘opt-in’ competition will give you a sense of normality during these next few months, and that you can get back to the BUCS sports you know and love.
