We’re delighted to share that Great Britain’s representative Bill Thompson has been successful in the recent European University Sports Association (EUSA) Executive Committee elections.

The new Executive Committee for the 2025-2029 term were elected during the EUSA General Assembly held in Zagreb, Croatia from 9-12 October.

The newly elected members will take on leadership responsibilities, guiding the organization’s activities and initiatives over the next four years.

Newly elected Executive Committee member, Bill Thompson (University of Exeter), said: “I’m honoured that the EUSA membership have once again placed their faith in me for the new Executive Committee. I can’t wait to see what the next four years hold for this Executive Committee, but I know it will be a privilege to serve. I really want to thank Leyanne Jenkins and Amy Spink from the International Team, Sam Bell Minogue, Will Roberts and the wider BUCS team for their support during the campaign. It truly is a BUCS team win!”

Will Roberts, BUCS CEO, said: “Bill's election to the EUSA Executive Committee is great news for higher education sport across Europe and for the BUCS members and participants.

“Central to Bill's candidacy was his commitment to improving the student experience in higher education sport and I'm delighted he secured the support he did at a General Assembly that saw significant change.

“Further congratulations go in particular to those female candidates that achieved election and created an Executive Committee with a notable change in gender balance, and to Haris Pavletic on securing the role of President, and whose ambition for higher education sport is something BUCS are closely aligned with.”

Haris Pavletic, EUSA President, added: “A great day for university sport in Europe! We’ve elected a new board for the next four years - let’s keep moving forward together!  Special congratulations to the UK team and Bill Thompson on being elected to the new board. He will be a valuable member in building our shared future.”
